Does this forum have a trojan virus?

Post by eugene »

No idea what part of this forum I should post this in but I thought this would be the best one as most people post in the Zimbabwe cricket section.

My new computer and my computer at work have alerted me to a trojan virus on this forum website. Has anyone else experienced this or my computers making stuff up?

Thanks for the heads-up, folks.

Answer: Yes, the site appears to have been hacked. Affected forum files have been removed and the forum software updated, which will hopefully take care of the problem - the scripts in question are no longer being served with forum pages, at any rate. Some cleanup work is still ongoing, so please bear with me.

Huge, huge apologies for this. I would suggest, that if you're using your ZCF login/password details on any other sites, that you change those passwords as soon as possible. Also give your PC a thorough going over with an up-to-date anti-virus program.

For what it's worth, Mac / Linux users don't seem to be affected (which is why I didn't notice until you lot did), while those sitting behind university or corporate firewalls likely had the nasty stuff blocked at your web filters.

Yes, was about to report it myself due to this. But Linux at home, so no issues :)

Many thanks for cleaning this up maehara. Good to know I can access my favourite cricket site again!

No problem - it's not the sort of thing I would ever leave unfixed once I found out about it. Although it did kibosh my plans for an early night last night..!
