at first looking at this squad i was diasspointed to see no real national team players, but after a closer look i relised that the players chosen were all top performers in the national leagues last season
ie Shingi Masakadza.Tafadzwa Kamungozi, Timycen Maruma,Trevor Garwe, Friday Kasteni, Regis Chakabva,
but why is braddly standdon playing, ive seen this guy play before and he is useless, i think his dad is on the board? so that would explain why
but i would of liked to see people like keegen meth and malcom waller given a go along with fringe players such as keith debanga and mpofu
Squad For First Match Against Pakistan x1
Re: Squad For First Match Against Pakistan x1
Staddon was one of the more consistent players in the Logan Cup last year.
This is a young A-team, with quite a few promising players in it. However, you would suspect that the Pakistani side will probably be quite a lot too strong for these boys. Also, hopefully this squad has been chosen due to a policy decision to give some experience to fringe players, rather than because there are issues with the national first team squad.

Show me any other country outside the Associates who would play their full-strength ODI side against an Academy team, and I'll get upset at ZC not having done it. If Pakistan were sending their 'A' side, I'd expect a full Zim team - I don't think this team is a bad selection to face an Academy side.

I think this is quite a good squad. A couple of those players are really solid A team players almost ready to take the next step (Chakabva, Garwe, Maruma).
Gerald Aliseni is a hugely surprising selection. He hasn't got a statistic in a List A or Twenty20 match yet! Selectors must think he has potential. Out of interest, does anyone know whether Aliseni is white? If not, that would leave Bradley Staddon as the only white player in the squad, which is only the second time I know of for a Zimbabwe representative team (the other time being around when the rebels had left, leaving only Brendan Taylor [and Ed Rainsford]).

2 List A matches, 1 T20, and not exactly stellar at that. Not sure why he's there, to be honest...brmtaylor.com admin wrote:Gerald Aliseni is a hugely surprising selection. He hasn't got a statistic in a List A or Twenty20 match yet!
