Zimbabwe vs Pakistan | 1st T20I | 1 December 2024
Re: Zimbabwe vs Pakistan | 1st T20I | 1 December 2024
Poor squad selection gets poor results it's pretty simple.
Re: Zimbabwe vs Pakistan | 1st T20I | 1 December 2024
Musikewa needs to be given a run because Zimbabwe desperately need a lower order hitter. Actually Burl and Campbell can also fill that role, so it's interesting what they do.
What happened to Brad Evans? Has he given up?
Any update on Naqvi's case? He still has one more year to be legitimately eligible?

Evans continues with niggling injuries preventing him from bowling yet he's in Rhinos as a no 8 or 9 batsman? If they're looking to develop him as an all rounder he needs to bat in the front 5.
It's always a shootout between Akram, Evans and Jongwe as the national all-rounder, but these guys all bat down the order in franchise and even club cricket? It just doesn't make sense.
We've got limited players here and if they need a seaming all-rounder rounder he needs to be a good batsman. Evans and Akram in particular don't get enuf innings in franchise and club. If they're not near the top of the leader boards at this level how do we expect them to come in and save the day at international level?
Yup let's give Musekiwa, Wes, Madande and Faraz every remaining game against Pakistan and all of them against Afghanistan. Front and centre. These walk on gigs of a couple of overs here and there will drag this out for years. The clock is ticking for a WC squad. It's time to see if they're up for it and if there's something for the coaches to work with.
Knackers will apparently be eligible July next year.
Bear in mind he's had a few shite games of late and if that trend of being a mere mortal continues they'll have to pick him off 2023 stats, plus some cash.

He recently got a very impressive ton against that SA Emerging side, and last week got 80 and career best bowling figures!

Not sure about Faraz getting games against Afg. I'd rather even prefer Jongwe over him.
One of Welch or Curran should get in for the Afg series. Prefreably Welch in place of Gumbie as opener.
Naqvi will strengthen the side and I think if he is legitimately eligible bt July next year then none of us should have a problem because he is not jumping the queue here by getting unfair eligibility which was the problem with most of us.
2027 WC is huge for Zimbabwe. I don't know if the board realizes it but it's make or break. A failed campaign would mean Zimbabwe will simply fade away while a good campaign will bring Zimbabwe back into the spotlight and fame of international cricketing world. A full strength side based on merit is a must.

Jongwe injured.

There wouldn’t be any spread betting going on would there?
Lose by 50 runs etc
seems to be gaining traction on the socials, I’m far from convinced though tbh.

I wouldn’t be against Nick Welch being given the slogger role in T20, when the ball isn’t as sharp.
