But his consistency has been the key. He’s played maybe only 20-25 innings of international cricket and he’s already got a maiden ton. You can talk about quality of opposition and the pitch if the guy is 28 years old or is playing in his 100th innings.
For example, if this was Marumani hitting a hundred, I’d have said “well he’s played 100 innings across formats, even a tailender could accidentally score runs on a highway against an Associate level attack.”

Also in Tests now, all the top 9 sides have world class bowling attacks. In fact the weakest bowling attack at the moment is probably a toss up between Pakistan and England, and they can still run through sides on their day.
It’s just that apart from the top 5 sides, the rest (BD, WI, SL, SA) can’t hold a bat.

Doesn't Bennett have a twin who also plays cricket? How good is he?
Re: Brian Bennett is the real deal
They were more or less as good as each other in the U19s. David hasn’t played any cricket since that though, as far as I can tell. Gone to Uni overseas?? Anyone know?americanzimfan wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 4:50 pmDoesn't Bennett have a twin who also plays cricket? How good is he?

I actually always thought that David Bennett was much better in terms of his technique. That side actually had some really good players. Bawa, matty welch, Bennett x 2. Probably more but I can't thinkaydee wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 5:04 pmThey were more or less as good as each other in the U19s. David hasn’t played any cricket since that though, as far as I can tell. Falao has had a few opportunities, but Dube is a better bowler. It's just hard to fathom. I really rate him, but he has a back problem that bothers him.
I haven't seen Schonken in franchise cricket?

When Welch and Steve Saul were selected for the Namibia tour, I thought Saul was in ZC's future plans.

Yeah, he's vanished out of sight, like so many from U19 teams over the years.Marshmallow wrote: ↑Tue Dec 31, 2024 7:10 pmWhen Welch and Steve Saul were selected for the Namibia tour, I thought Saul was in ZC's future plans.

You're right, he hasn't. Did a little bit of NPL. I wonder if he's still about? It seems not?
