First and foremost is the tv. The English premiership and the then Super 10 rugby all started by getting tv rights, with proper coverage. The problem with Zim at the moment is that ZBC is too broke to pay anything for the rights and Supersport is still too middle class and too South African to convey a sense of excitement around the Zim game. So what is needed is a new TV channel, preferably terrestrial (but satellite if it's affordable for the majority) but that's not going to happen soon, if ever. What can be changed right now though is the dismal newspaper coverage. There's some form of excitement for international matches but nothing for the domestic game. We need The Herald, Newsday, The Daily News and The chronicle to hire former cricketers to convey proper enthusiasm for the game. Get former stars to write a column, get photographers to the grounds (even in Masvingo and Mutare), get the scorecards etc. I'm frankly tired of these dry 3 paragraph things they put up - that does not market the game.

Until a new tv station pops up, ZC will do well to invest in two video cameras to cover the two games each week, then post a video highlights package on their website. Get player interviews while you're at it, offer analysis if you can. In America, the NHL, for instance has their own tv network for highlights, analysis and that sort of thing. It might even be worth it for ZC's own highlights package to be given to the ZBC for free (if anyone is still watching that archaic thing, I don't reside at home anymore so I don't know the state of affairs there first hand). What you need is hype, prompt information and analysis.

When people start to feel this hype, and seeing results of a national team that hopefully is competitive, then they'll start looking to attend the domestic matches. Then you can put Flower Power (version 2)'s plan into action.

Like I said in This post someone is sleeping on the job in the IT department. That would be very cool, ZC are not embracing new media and probably dont have a plan for it or expertise to advise of such *Joomla template sites  *. They could set up a system and peeps can upload score cards direct to the site from their areas, with picks, videos etc to accompany. Now apparently the IT Manager is also the Team Manager! Cost cutting again I guess.

True, but isn't it an egg or hen question? ZBC surely sees the potential of advertising and hence need to first grow the product, then benefit later...that is the reason people buy TV rights, to use it as an advertising vehicle...but then we are speaking logic where none doesn't apply...

I know I first fell in love with the sport at jurnior school but the bug came from reading about the Martin Crows, Sachins when they were written about in the press, yes the Chronicle and the great WIs of the 80s on b/w TV (must be giving away my age!). Its so frustrating that even the so called sports editors don't even know the names of our own players (let alone the rules!) I think ZCU should play a bigger role. Why not teach people through advertorials in these papers. Offer jurno scholarships? I read a decent piece from a current FC player who is studying English at KZN and it made decent reading (http://www.newzimbabwe.com/blog/index.p ... ylors-men/ ). Why not have our past greats writing a weekly column. Even CricInfo is guilty of this one...shallow reporting. You only find out a player was injured way after a series. Facts are reported (if correctly) plainly just as...why not give indepth analysis? But its not all bad one of the reasons I found this forum was because I hungered to know what was going on. I think ZCU must have a role, although this may have the unintended "ref-player" role, as all reporting assisted by the Union will inevitably be pro-Union, not that it should always be anti, but it has to be non partisan.

I could set up an e-business strategy that can enable ZC to make the most of their high profile test matches and ODI's whilst using viral video feeds of clips of their FC games to create an online presents which presents an alternate revenue stream based on Page rank of ZC's site , Social Media integration and Google Adsence. You create a content farm and create a Zimbabwe cricket portal...the rest here (IP) DM me and we can talk business

In a nutshell use the web and the internet to reach the larger populous that is us Zimbabwe cricket fans and through that portal earn revenue that they are not even realizing yet.

Z C have invested $1m in an outside broadcast van whats happen to that. Then they have TWO team managers when before it was handled by one.they can
begin from there by cost cutting. Also there are too many staff employed in the offices.reliable source information that they sent the ex IT manager now the so called manager to india just to collect the new reobok team kit waste of money.
