I'm not sure what you want me to say, Sloan? The Singapore tour was a last minute decision, but any cricket is welcomed, as is the shopping!
Snyder is the Zim u19 full back I believe? He's a really good player. His father is a monster and was a fantastic 8th man. His uncle used to play for the Queensland Reds many years ago as prop. They're a big, strong, tough family. Great people.
I can't comment on the standard of their opposition in Singapore, hopefully they get some confidence building wins. Snyder isn't an opener and it's unfair on him to be expected to fulfill this role. It's the old Zim story of being short of pure front line batsmen.
Plenty of decent all rounders, but they need a Curtis, Byrom, Curran or a Welch, it is just a crying shame that they weren't all here, they're all ready for top flight cricket, never mind u19 level. The guys can all bat though, especially Murray. The bowlers are good, and I'm surprised they didn't do better. I would assume too much variation, trying to do too many things. I really have a big question mark over the captaincy. Murray has always been a decent captain, but it's a mediocre side so we need an inspiring, awesome one and there isn't one.
I've seen all these guys bat, Murray and Sly are good, just need to apply themselves. We don't play enough quality opposition during the year and it shows. It's a huge step up and only really determined and talented guys can do it. It's just a matter of small degrees though and if a couple of the guys can bat well and determinedly the guys coming in will realize it's do-able.

Googly whats your take on having a pinch hitter has an opener in my head i have Patel , Mavuta or Matigimu as guys who are great strikers of the ball with good eye coordination but not the necessary technique to open.

Well the best of them is Snyder by a long long way and he kept not pulling it off. Without having been there I don't know what his instructions were. Maybe they told him to occupy the crease and play conservatively? Maybe they should tell him to have a go? When Snyder is in form he plays in the V and clears the boundary with ease, when he starts playing too square he gets it wrong. Of course the good bowlers will quickly see where his strength is. I really like him down the order against the older ball, that's the best place for him. The other two are lower middle order and won't come off up front. Of course making bold statements like that will bite me but I know I'm right.

One of the issues (always) is our batters' inability to work the ball for singles and being really slow between the wickets. Within 4 balls the pressure mounts, and batters then get s rush of blood and go for a low percentage shot. It's so easy to set a field to guys who can't hit the gaps with weighted shots. You guys will see what I mean when we watch it on tele.

Googs you may be right . Ive seen Synder bat once in a T20 for falcon last year i think he came in at 4 or 5 but the way he built his innings and the way he chased was very impressive for his age looked for singles and the boundary off the bad ball early on before unleashing some lusty blows to close the game with balls to spare. At club level Mavuta opens and averages 35 odd but as you said he is a mid order batsman at club level he has been able to reconstruct an innings and do a finsher role but in most case he has had the help of senior guys which he hasnt replicated with the under 19s.

one day the Zimbabwean national cricket and Rugby team will be one and the same since all the cricketers seem to also be gun rugby players.
