Not quite our strongest team. As we expected, there are a few development players who performed credibly. Chakabva made 17 (not embarassing) and Muzarabani 0/32 from 8 which was quite economic.
Cremer was quite expensive, but then again he is more of a Test specialist.
No Utseya in the team, no Chibhabha. Good to see 4 specialist bowlers + Chigumbura.

Masacadza's 19 runs off 40 balls was unnaceptable.
Re: Series thread - MTN Domestic Championship
Not too bad an effort with the bat to be honest. Although no one was able to push on and play a match defining innings, as always seems to be the case. Nice to see Chakabva play, less nice to see him stuck all the way down at no. 7... The bowling still looks painfully weak, Price the only one with genuine class. Obviously Utseya will help when he's fit. Somewhat surprising to see Muzarabani play ahead of Mpofu, Mupariwa, Rainsford, Garwe, Mahwire, Manyumwa... Although he seemed to bowl reasonably well. Cremer's performance was disappointing. I hope he gets another chance though, as he is an aggressive bowler and useful lower order batsmen.
On a side note, interesting to see 5 white players selected... Williams, Taylor, Cremer, Price & Brent.

I managed to watch a few hours of the match earlier, and i agree with you aydee, even i was suprised about the 5 white players. I do hope that Robin Brown has convinced to the board to select on merit rather than colour. That notion would help zimbabwe no end.

How did the guys look (technically, body language, etc)? Interested particularly in Chakabva and Muzarabani, nobody knows too much about them at all besides the scorecards from the SAA matches.zimdan wrote:I managed to watch a few hours of the match earlier, and i agree with you aydee, even i was suprised about the 5 white players. Interesting - for the purposes of this series, we're the Zimbabwe Chevrons. Wonder who came up with that name.
Still think Zimbabwe Flames would have been a better option...

I'm happy with the Chevrons, it is a Zimbabwean/African company affiliated with Caltex, so this would mean they are our corporate sponsors. And that means $$$$$$ for the board, which hopefully will be invested wisely in cricket

Re: Series thread - MTN Domestic Championship
dissapointing result for Zimbabawe their batting is definatly up to the mark but they need to get a qaulity seam bowler their attack is far to weak, if zimbabwe had someone like a Dale steyn, Morne Morkel or even some1 who could bowl 135kph consistantly they would be close to a complete unit.
