It's got to be a mental thing. He's been playing international cricket for too long for this to be a flaw in his technique that's just happened to go unnoticed.
He is extremely bottom handed though when punching off the back foot. His hands are hard and he really doze poke at it.
Was this a problem for Craig before this series?

As a batsman you can wake up with a bad habit, just like a problem with your golf swing, and you have to go and fix it, not discuss it and assume you’ve sorted it out, you have to go and hit balls and put it back into muscle memory. He opens up and leans back and plays too far away from his eye line. It’s proven that it takes 15 hours to fix a bad habit, that’s about 4000 balls.

PJ is following the ball that turns, just need to play down the line you picked. That straight one will get him.

Everyone here is happy to sing praises to Craig and make the minimal of criticism to his performance. You can blindly kiss his ass as much as you want to but he should be dropped for Murray.
With all due respect, I'm criticizing his technique massively, but I can't sit here and question his ability when he's been a pillar for a while now. Scoring runs in test cricket and ODI cricket is not easy and Ervine has shown that he has what it takes. His technique outside off stump needs work but, like BRM said, it's only really creeped in this series.
For you to say Ervine should be dropped for a 19 year old with two List A games shows the stupidity of your argument. If Williams or Mutombodzi was in the squad I would also drop Craig and maybe give him a break from the pressure. But there is no alternative batters who can match his ability.

You must be loosing your mind mate,I would rather see the 19year old come in and score 5 runs than Craig come in a play a shot that is way off stump, something a experienced batsman would leave. Worse play the same short numerous times in a row not to mention get out in the same fashion for a score of 1 or 2.

You supporting this failure clearly shows you are experiencing your own delusions,Hopefully all faculties are still functioning.

Ervine has been out of sorts for a while having him sit out a game or two could actually do him some good. The selectors really made life difficult for themselves by not selecting a reserve batsman. Its like we are back in the post rebels period where Vusi gets picked regardless because we don't have any replacements.

Why do our guys try and play stupid sweeps and ramps from ball one. Streak needs to make it a rule that you can't play a cross bat shot until you've been out there for 20 minutes.

When Murray becomes half the player Ervine is, I'll accept that his inclusion would be justifiable, but he isn't, and in a do or die game I would rather have Craig Ervine in the mix. Pipe down kid
