Either by opening the innings or coming in at number three, and going hell for leather in that first 10 overs. There's no point saving both himself and Mire for the last 10-15 overs when the game is already lost.
This I totally agree with. And there is no point for these guys to come one after the other. Send one up at the top of the order with a liscence to go for it. And not to plod around but with the intention to go at whatever s thrown at them. If it fires good if it doesnt then so be it. We still have good wickets in hand. We cant have everyone even our big hitters, trying to consolidate and build an innings they just go out that way. Let them go out and hit the ball. So one of them comes in early and the other later. Initially I thought that would have been the plan by feilding in two similar players. Bring one of them in before Williams and craig. Whether we get off to a good start or not. The opposition will certainly not be expecting it.

I wouldnt mind Dav Whatmore repeating this very same text to the batsmen. But I fear thats what might happen, treat Ireland with respect and they come out and party. They definitely dont respect us and that is the one match that I am concerned about. I would celebrate more if we beat Ireland than if we beat India.

Ireland have been talking so much, it would be great to beat them.

Not a bad idea at all. I don't think trundlers like Mooney, Sorensen, O'Brien will threaten our batsmen. They are line and length sort of bowlers (Gary Brent types).
Even if they play Young or Cusack, it won't make much of a difference..... They will be employing the kind of tactics we did against SA in the one-off test last year.
In fact, I won't be surprised if they open the bowling with Dockrell or McBrine.....

Mire would be the one to promote to open IMO, Ive never seen Chigs bat higher than 4 and Mire opens for his club side in Melbourne. Pretty sure he hit a 237 in a 50 over match which got him promoted to the Melbourne Renegades Big Bash Team .......

It hasn't been said yet but I think Vitori was left out because they are afraid he might be called for for throwing. Certain to I feel. No other reason makes sense
Perhaps also the reason that many seamers have been outperforming him in domestic cricket this season...
Exactly. I feel he's been told to remodel his action and hence not bowling as fast as he was before.

*On another note I have just logged on to find West Indies posted 372... oh horror.

Vitori wld have accounted for the big bully Gayle, no problems whatsoever.

If he was called though, he'd have a few weeks grace period where he could still play though right? Like Waller had?
So why not take him to the WC? If he got suspended, it would be after the tournament (or at least Zimbabwe's participation in the tournament) and he'd have until... December, or whenever we play next... to get it sorted.

Meanwhile the UAE are also giving Ireland a good game, scoring 278, and putting the Irish under some pressure in the field. Riding their luck (flashing and jumping bails not coming off :o ), Ireland have only lost one wicket in the first 14 overs, so I guess they are still favourites to win this.

UAE proving what I said before that it should not be a surprise if they beat Irish today. IRL 113/4 require another 166 runs with 6 wickets and 21.2 overs remaining
