sure-shot wrote:I have read read with astonishment some submissions on this forum that try to question Malcom's call up for the Bangla tour, well, I would like to think that the bloke EARNED his slot through sweat and purely on merit. No body scores back to back tons & doesn't catch the selector's eye.
Lets support & back Malcom, something similar to how Australia backed Adam Voges as he struggled all through the recent Ashes.
Good Lord.
These are the folks that laughed at hhm day in and day out.
Malcolm did score back-to-back centuries, but for the most part he needs to be judged on his international form as that is where he has been playing the most. His form over the last two years is Maruma-esque and does not warrant a place in the team.

I was watching the Eagles vs Mountaineers game today.
It saddens me that regardless of how well the likes of Munyaradzi, Chikomba, and Diplock are doing in their first few games, as soon as the other guys like Muzarabani, Wellington, and Garwe come back they will be out for the rest of the season.
Fair enough in Wellington ' case as he is young but Garwe is in his 30s and Muzarabani is pushing 30 and is plain useless.
I have faith that the coach will continue to back most of the boys that have started well. The current eagles side had no single player with National Honours. The coach in my opinion has faith in the boys he has. There will be obvious changes but i think the guys are making the right noises and there are serious prospects that Garwe and Muzarabani will be on A tours to Dubai to Play Afghanistan and National Tour to Bangladesh. The current results and strong start by the eagles team is as a result of the current strong competition for places and hunger to win. Speaking to the coach he loves the unity of the current team and the fact that there is no contamination from the national team players once players cross the rope.
I may be wrong but it will be hard to break up the Eagles unit le inthe string bond amongst the players gives me hope that it maybe hard for the national team players to settle in . Im excited to see how the fringe talent will do this year especially with the possibility of the ZPL giving more games to fringe players and club die hards. The Dubai tour should see ZIM A play Afghanistan in a few ODI's and 2 4 day games. loads of cricket this season
I agree with sure-shot.
Strange phenomenon in ZC rewarding success!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Normally failure is rewarded- like 15k to the MD who has run the company into debt and almost administration. CEO of Southern Rocks who won nothing takes over Mountaineers who won almost everything. A banned bowlers action yet he is still picked....etcetc
Well done Malcolm for the fortitude to come back with the centuries and earn a chance in the national team again.
Of course it would have been easier to have your batting action deemed illegal then you'd have got back in to the National Squad without breaking a sweat. Or have a well placed Uncle. Alas you had to show your fighting spirit and character and earned your spot.
Now grab it with both hands!
As for cleaning house, yes starting with the Admin!!! Then room by room with most players.
The new structures will be interesting and i remain reserved till i call for culling of the ZC staff. The new board has legacy issues that it needs to address and we need to give them time to deal with them. In a way i wish they could reveal and be transparent to statkeholders on the issues that they are dealing with rather than us speculating. An 18 month review will reveal the effectiveness of the board and its effectiveness before a clean broom. As for the players i think father time is catching up with the players and we shall see the eventual phasing out of players as they mature out of international cricket and be absorbed into development structures

Joylord Gumbie, PJ Moor, Kevin Kasuza, Ryan Burl, Brandon Diplock, Tendai Chisoro, Wellington Masakadza, Tinotenda Mutombodzi...
Mutombodzi and Chisoro are too old to be considered in this category.
Fair point. What do we think the age limit is for our young 'nucleus'? 21?
