I'm not worried about "The Most Boring Cricket Tournament apart from the Champions League and the IPL", but I am worried about the REAL stuff, a three match TEST series, fcs.zimstarr wrote:Guys dont worry williams will make the world cup sqd he hs apologised for what he said
That said, I'll miss the whole of the first Test

Re: Mangongo Speaks Out On Sean Williams
. “Williams excused himself from the team training camp in Harare, saying he wanted to attend to a bereavement in the family, and was given days to go home and he then advised the team coach that another member of his family had also passed away and he needed more time away.
“Wayne James was in town then, assisting Steve (Mangongo) with the coaching duties and we asked him to call the Williams family to express our condolences and that’s when we got the shock news that no one had actually passed away,” said Makoni.
“Sean came back to the spin camp, three days before the team left for Triangle, and was told by the coach that he was going to travel with the squad to Triangle, but since he had been AWOL, he would be subject to a hearing where the convener would be present.
“That’s when everything exploded with Sean kicking stumps in anger and abusing the coach with language that wasn’t appropriate and then telling him that he was quitting because he had a lot going on in his head. He then called the coach, around midnight, to apologise for his behaviour and I think we have to commend the coach for not reacting to all the abuse that he was subjected to.
“But the point is that we can’t have special conditions for one player and Sean is not in the team because he wasn’t there when his teammates were putting a lot of hours and days to prepare for the tour.”

Read it earlier. I don't believe a word of that. That is complete bollocks. Nobody would ever pretend to be mourning the death of a loved one just to get out of training. Makoni is a full on ]{{}##%%% and I don't believe a word coming from his mouth. Sean may have got angry but i have no doubt it was due to perhaps the way mangongo spoke to him or what he said. NOBODY would ever fake the death of a loved one.zimfan1 wrote:. “Williams excused himself from the team training camp in Harare, saying he wanted to attend to a bereavement in the family, and was given days to go home and he then advised the team coach that another member of his family had also passed away and he needed more time away.

Re: Mangongo Speaks Out On Sean Williams
Actually- that is pretty much a spot on report.
Not sure it was necessary to detail it in public- SM at least had the decency in his interview to not delve into the nitty gritty.
GM is probably happy it's his pants that aren't down.
Anyway, there you have it....senseless stupidity by Williams and also a reflection that player/s are too afraid to enter into dialogue with the coach about their training and needing rest.
On another note, Colthards' allegations of racism..........
It has been brought to light that there is currently still a quota system in ZC where under NO CIRCUMSTANCES must there be less than 7 black players in the national squad---help me out, when was the last time there were less than 7 black players?? 2003??

Re: Mangongo Speaks Out On Sean Williams
for me the world cup is far more important than a test series . as for the champions trophy i see no point in itforeignfield wrote:I'm not worried about "The Most Boring Cricket Tournament apart from the Champions League and the IPL", but I am worried about the REAL stuff, a three match TEST series, fcs.zimstarr wrote:Guys dont worry williams will make the world cup sqd he hs apologised for what he said
That said, I'll miss the whole of the first Test.. hope to see you guys back after a positive result there.
Re: Mangongo Speaks Out On Sean Williams
Williams seems somewhat contrite, which leads me to believe he thinks at least some of it is his fault.

Re: Mangongo Speaks Out On Sean Williams
I'm on foreignfield's side on this. Who cares who is in the WC squad? Impact-wise, we needed Williams here more than ever before, and Tests seem to be our best forte, and we need to keep proving that we belong here. And he has hardly won us matches on his own in ODIs anyway. His availability in his current form would have given that amazing stability to the line up which is gone completely now.zimstarr wrote:for me the world cup is far more important than a test series . as for the champions trophy i see no point in itforeignfield wrote:I'm not worried about "The Most Boring Cricket Tournament apart from the Champions League and the IPL", but I am worried about the REAL stuff, a three match TEST series, fcs.
And on that racism claim, Coltart is opening a can of worms at the wrong time - it is dangerous and he needs to realize he can't play victim like the other corner did a decade ago.

Me, i'm the source i was there, watched it all happen. What's your source ? I mean in the sense that it's a very honest report
David Coltart has always said ZC are racist and recently he will be proved right- the National team is not allowed less than 7black players. ICC is against all racism..allegedly.And on that racism claim, Coltart is opening a can of worms at the wrong time
What will be achieved by it as you say...more good players coming back to Zim if they now stand a chance.
Imagine if a few years ago- there was a line up of
1)Glen Querl(most wickets taken in Franchise)
2)Keegan Meth
3)Craig Irvine
4)BT
5)Sean Williams
6)Cremer
7)Jarvis
Just saying and probably missed out on a few whiteys.
Bangla is the stepping stone to World Cup. ZC doesn't care about the World Cup..they just want to attend because they get paid irrespective of how the team does.
