Where to from here?
Re: Where to from here?
The women are ruthless. I’d tell raz dawg to his face he’s shit if he had a bad game, I wouldn’t do the same to Mary-Anne

Re: Where to from here?
The one spinner we have that batters don't read very well is Wallace Mubayiwa. Something about his action and the the way the ball comes out confuses guys. If he was more accurate he would come close to national selection in a while.

There was a time, not long ago, that Wellington was considered world class, and before that it was Blessing. Granted Blessing did come somewhat close to actually earning that tag taking a couple 4-fers and 5 fers...and playing country cricket and PSL. But his regression during the both qualifiers and also the one the 2018 sheds doubt on his wc status. Performances against Tanzanian and Rwanda, or even Namibia can't accurately determine the class of cricketers.secretzimbo wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 9:16 amOnly other positive currently is that Ngarava is properly world-class now. His significant improvement and rise this year has been overlooked a bit due to the rest of the team being shit.

Finch retired after struggling against Ngarava
got a Stirling a few times too. Big wickets

Re: Where to from here?
Ya ngarava is the real deal. World class gets thrown around to anyone remotely decent. Richard most certainly is however.

Nah, Richard genuinely is world class. Improved significantly the past twelve months.

But more to the point of the topic...there is no substitute for international cricket. Going back to domestic cricket works for teams like Australia, England, India, South Africa, and New Zealand...but the quality of domestic cricket in other countries means that most of the development has to happen at the international level. Its a painstaking process, and is probably low yield (ie if you have 5 talented prospects, perhaps only 1-2 of them will actually turn out to be decent to good players).
I thnk playing as many internationals as possible in all formats is the way to go for Zimbabwe. Especially games against teams like Ireland, Netherlands, Scotland, and Namibia. Perhaps even arranging games vs UAE, Nepal, and USA will do well especially if you're trying out younger players.

I've just heard that there might be a 2 month tour coming up for an u25 side to England next year. Is this old news?
It's the same old story- pick the right players and don't give friends, relatives, political appointees and 35 year olds a free holiday and it might be beneficial.
You have to pick the guys that have slim shot at kicking on.

And pick a decent coach.

I think we knew that? Maybe nothing was in concrete at that point.Googly wrote: ↑Sat Dec 16, 2023 8:06 pmI've just heard that there might be a 2 month tour coming up for an u25 side to England next year. Is this old news?

Roy Kaia needs to captain that, make a few dollars for his baby mama’s maid and you need one or two old hands to pass on their knowledge and experience, though not like we saw in SA recently.
What’s the betting one or both Naqvi’s get the gig
