To celebrate the start of the 2nd round today, the scorecard for round 1 has finally arrived and is on the match thread, twice ;)

Some good performances with 2 hundreds and 4 fifties from 4 different players, Sibanda, Cremer, Kasteni and Nyathi, while Muzarabani, Waller and Mugochi put in good looking spells to back Cremer up.

An exciting start to the season which, hopefully, we will be able to continue today.

Scorecard for our 1st innings against Eagles is on the match thread now.

Another 100 for Friday Kasteni in a big partnership with Brendan Taylor who scored 129, the rest of our batting was a bit of a let down though with only Ed Rainsford 30, Malcom Waller 28 and Graeme Cremer 23 reaching double figures.

I think the strength of our side is based around the fact we have four experianced players in Taylor, Sibanda, Cremer and Rainsford and the fact that these four are performing consistantly enables the up and coming players such as Friday Kasteni, Malcolm Waller and Soloman Mire to express themselves and play without fear as they are not having to try and rebuild the innings and can play there own game. Along with having in my opinion the best coach in the country (Andy Waller) things are looking good for us Rhino fans :D

Well boys, looks like our first slight setback of the season, we seem to have let the Eagles off the hook, 105-5 with Price absent and they manage to get 380 and a 1st innings lead :? Big knock from Mutizwa though and a good sign for the National side, although not so good about Price, hopefully only something small.

Another 5 wickets for Graeme Cremer although he seems to have been overbowled a bit, i would have thought that Brighton Mugochi should have had a few more than 10 out of 118 overs.

3 wickets gone and only 32 ahead at the latest scorecard, we need another biggie from Brendan Taylor now :D

The lads battled through the day to frustrate Eagles and pick up a draw, although Brendan Taylor 42 and Bothwell Chapungu 49 didn't add that many to their overnight scores, Graeme Cremer 94, took Rhinos through the day along with Solomon Mire 27 and Ed Rainsford 26 while Taurai Muzarabani 51* hit his maiden half century and Brighton Mugochi 33* in an unbroken last wicket stand of 86, possibly a chance that slipped away when Eagles were 105-5 but an excellent start to the Logan series.

The Rampaging Rhinos trampled over the Eagles to gain a 3 run win in the Faithwear fixture, scorecard on the match thread :D

Brendan Taylor 62 and Friday Kasteni 48 were the main men in a 110 run 4th wicket stand while Graeme Cremer 39, Solomon Mire 37 and Taurai Muzarabani 29, another personal best, took Rhinos through to 252 from 49.2 overs. After a couple of early wickets Eagles began to get control but getting the wicket of Elton Chigumbura when Eagles were 194-5 was the major breakthrough, 2 wickets each from Muzarabani and Mire with Vusi Sibanda, Malcolm Waller, Mike Chinouya and Cremer all picking up 1 each was enough to stop Eagles at 249 with 3 overs to spare :D

Time for a break now as the other 4 sides play during round 3, the next fixture for Rhinos will be the Logan match against Southern Rocks starting on 14th october.

Yeah, before you guys complain, I thought I would use the secret password of yours again, which I have found out

Excellent consistency shown by Taylor, Kasteni and Cremer. Simply outstanding, and you can call it a belated birthday gift to your coach too... ;)

:D

I think we'll be kind to this CrimsonAvenger chap, zimfan1, i'm pretty sure that he wants to be sensible and become a Rhinos fan but is a little shy about joining us, i reckon we should just be nice to him until he sees sense

He has a point though, it's a shame that the lads couldn't have given Andy Waller 4 wins out of 4 for his 50th birthday.

Ha! No thanks Sir, I'll stay with Tuskers, although I am a little worried about internal politics ruining things there...

As for this post, just wanted to remind you of Andy's b'day that you guys had missed out :) (And I must admit, I was not expecting BRMT to be available right from the word go for this season, and that has made a huge difference for the Rhinos)

You're welcome to drop by anytime you wish CrimsonAvenger.

We were, of course, fully aware of his birthday, we just didn't want to remind the poor old devil how old he was

Having only had to play one match without BRM has been a very nice surprise, i expected him to miss the first 2 rounds at least and he's proved already what a classy player he is. He will be missed whenever the National sides fixtures clash with domestic games, in fact we could be without BRM, Vusi Sibanda, Malcolm Waller, Ed Rainsford and Graeme Cremer depending on national selection, i think our strength in depth could be sorely tested if and when that happens :?
