Southern Africans have always come across in OZ as a little uptight and whingey. Bit of a reputation for it.
I have a good south african friend who doesnt really like associating himself with other south africans as they head the complaints list at his department store he is a shift manager at, the irony is he is by FAR the most highly strung person i know. Great heart and moral fortitude though.
They arent as disliked as sub continentals though. People here find them pleasant as people and good workers, but man they can be annoying at times, always penny pinching and to be frank, they have an odour most of the time.
Flakeman is dead right that they dont contribute socially to cricket. our team took on a few asian cricketers, lovely blokes but they disappeared as soon as the game was done, no matter the occassion, and it was at odds with what culture we were building.

Re: [Discussion]: Your Zim A side for Sou A & NZ, team build
Flakeman, fair response to my points. I think re: Campbell Light he was a bit of dick to begin with. I know the club he played for, Spalding Town very well, as I lived there and played for them for a couple of seasons ( I joined the year after he was there). They still talk about him. Spent all the money he was given, didn't coach the juniors, didn't really interact socially. Ironically now they have a Pakistani, who despite being culturally very different, has been great. Helps out with coaching, socializes after the game ( with a lemonade! ), etc. ...
I think there are few more reasons, but basically they just got a bad apple, nothing to do with where he was from/race/religion etc...
Sorry, I think we may have gone off topic a bit....

On second thought, I feel with Zimbabwe not playing a test since Dec 2014, the A side will be similar to the Zimbabwe national side & they will utilize these 3 FC matches (2 vs SOU A, 1 vs NZ) as a preparation/audition for the test side. Considering the selection trend, I reckon at least a squad of 16-18 players will be announced & possibly everyone will get at least one match to stake a claim for test selection.
I'm guessing,
1. Sikandar Raza
2. Hamilton Masakadza (VC)
3. Craig Ervine
4. Sean Williams
5. Regis Chakabva (WK)
6. Vusimuzi Sibanda
7. Elton Chigumbura
8. Graeme Cremer (C)
9. Tinashe Panyangara
10. Tendai Chatara
11. Donald Tiripano
12. Wellington Masakadza
13. Shingirai Masakadza
14. Brian Chari
15. Ryan Burl
16. Luke Jongwe
17. Peter Moor (WK)
18. Richard Ngarava/Brian Vitori

I stand to be corrected but i think pj moor is a better wicketkeeper and a better batsman...I honestly think he is far much better than reggie.I also have nothing against hami but i think he needs to prove that he deserves a place otherwise he has shown us so much dismal perfomances. He miscalculates shots and he sucks when he need him.I personally think he shud juss be lef out if he is not perfoming and lets give youngsters a chance since there are other senior players in the squad you chose.Detective RDS wrote:On second thought, I feel with Zimbabwe not playing a test since Dec 2014, the A side will be similar to the Zimbabwe national side & they will utilize these 3 FC matches (2 vs SOU A, 1 vs NZ) as a preparation/audition for the test side. The training camp should have been started by now along with the squad announcement.
Re: [Discussion]: Your Zim A side for Sou A & NZ, team build
Maruma and Mutombodzi are the only players who played against India and are playing in the first 4 dayer.. Squad was announced and the players who are playing know and they've been training together for 2 weeks.. A few youngsters in the squad like Tatenda "Dutch" Chikuni, Brian Chari and Tari Musakanda,
