Next match, Duffin should be given the chance in place of Coventry. If Williams is not fit, Chakabva can be dropped and Coventry can occupy his batting position. I still believe Coventry can bat well down the order.

Today was a bad performance. I think we need to realise that there is a glass ceiling with these guys on how good they will ever be. Most of the team have been playing ODIs for a long time now. If things were going to click into place they would have by now. Our pace bowlers are never going to be more than non-threatening medium pacers, our spinners are good in the ODI format - but once tests return they will struggle for wickets as the opposition can just play them out not worrying about strike rates etc,. Our batsmen are terribly inconcsistent and will stay that way. Until some new players come through the system we are going to be stuck with this team for awhile and all of its inconsistencies.

Zimbabwe yanyadzisa vakomana, zvimwe ndezvimwe. Whatever language you use or whatever excuse you want, Zim cricket has been exposed. Everyones's job should on the line, that's how get people on their toes. Not this theory regarding lack of this and that. That won't get us anywhere. If we continue hiding behind cricketing playing population and infrastructure figures, the we might as well quit trying to get the national team anywhere because those figures will never really improve in Zim. Zim has to find a multi pronged approach that is better than the current one. Send the guys to SA for a while at least they'll get to play truly competitive cricket week in and week out. ....And this excuse regarding the amount of time it's supposed to get guys back on course...it's not going last much longer..so we might as well get rid of it now.

we have 15+ players who are Zimbabwean playing pro cricket in SA I think its time for some of them careers permitting to come back home and strengthen the competition and the team because seemingly like what Eugen has said there is a glass ceiling and most players unfortunately have plateaued.n I think actions have to be put in place to have them back because currently those that have come back have been playing lesser leagues in the UK whatsoever and surprisingly have done well back home..maybe a telling sign also about current standards back home...

Get real players back in so as to create real competition

Really?

Who? I'm not aware of any Zimbabweans even playing the second tier of SA 1st class cricket, let alone fully pro franchise cricket...

Because of the new regulations now they cannot play for the amateur side but are have been part of academies USSASA teams, SA CLUB champs and are playing as 1st league pros in their respective provinces..some are captains etc .Most of them went over as University students and are now local pros n their various leagues
