Pressure is a thing i tell u. That's the worst I've seen Ben play all year. Didn't look too bad, but as soon as I saw him going hard and not moving it was a matter of time. Not the dream start he wanted. Not seen him play a shot like that all season.
Myers looked shit today, also hung his bat out a couple of times. He looks a bit awkward, pushes his hips back a tiny bit and pulls his head offline.
Williams' shot was a brain fade.
That way of Bennett's where he gives himself a bit of room on leg, doesn't move his feet either, has worked well for him, but he'll have to have the best hand eye for that to stand up against late swing.

That'll be $50 bucks! Cheaper than 15k

Maru walking into quite a few of his shots of late. You make it tougher than it is if you're on the move and your head is not still.

Uber tough conditions.

Can't see us having a game here. This weather is in and out.
Yeah its a mental thing. I believe in every player being given a good run. We can't judge him on this the pressure was massive; (debut, take the new ball on a wicket that has been under covers for about 3 hours because of rain, delayed start) add all these thing naaah it will mess up anyone's brain and preparation.

Another thing so touching to see him receive his cap from uncle Kenyon Ziehl and his mother around class act for ZC pulling that.

Ervine generally plays swing well. So does Williams, that was a terrible shot from him.
Huh? Ervine, the guy who almost always gets out edging behind? Williams its a bit harder to tell, but he's not the most technically compact guy and every other shot is an attempted sweep or reverse sweep from him.

So it sounds like Curran had a shocker. Does he look like he can cut it?

No wasn't bad. Just looked nervous and wasn't moving his feet. Terrible pitch to debut on, and they were bowling well.
Odds were stacked against him. As usual nearly everyone played poorly. Had it not been called off the game was in the toss, which we lost.

Nearly every ball of his innings in these highlights. Looked no worse than anyone else.

He's decent for a non-subcontinent batsman...certainly the best of the Zimbabwe batters, I'd reckon.

Just watched the highlights.

Looked organised enough but he's a massive lbw candidate. Went hard at the ball but can clearly play.
That bowling would have had most players in tatters. Swing, seam, bounce, pace....go ahead and open son 😄

Myers looks organised and Marumani was looked good too. Played a couple of lovely on drives for no run. The boy can clearly play but he needs to start getting into it now.

The Afghanistan attack is potent

If Curran doesn't get a Zimbabwean 50 there's going to be some nasty stuff tweeted about his tribe and it's going to be seriously detrimental to a level playing field going forward. It's already started.

I don't know why they don't make one of those raised covers you can wheel on at HSC. You could make one with a couple of fans underneath. It would certainly help pitch conditions. Come tomorrow it's going to be absolutely vital to win that toss, its another overcast day today. Can we not resort to a same sided coin?
That's another thing- surely in a series one should have a coin toss in the first game, second game the other captain gets the choice and third game another coin toss.
