Ya Afghan have come from nowhere to being a force to be reckoned with while we stagnate and the West Indies regress.

The wake up for me was Afghanistan. They've got a world class bowling attack, 2 World class opening batsmen, 2 others of real quality and 2 other decent ones.
Everyone wringing their hands about Afghanistan is nonsensical, they're way ahead of us.
They seem like a cricket mad country and have the raw numbers to back themselves.
What I don’t understand is how they appeared out of nowhere 15 years ago.

This was an interesting read. They've literally only been playing for 20 years.

Ya the lack of quick bowlers in Zim is strange. Even our established franchise guys can't get it much above 135.
Bilharzia and beer don't help.
This is where maybe that country wide scouting could work

They don't play cricket. That's the answer. . Apparently the introduction of tape ball cricket will help us unearth some rapid guys. I get the vision. Let's see how it works out.

World class bowlers build tough batsmen. That's my theory. World class batsmen don't create great bowlers for me

The 4 semi-finalists are India, Australia, SA and NZ and the next three weeks are a waste of time.

Looks like SL and NED will miss out on the Champions Trophy while England and Bangladesh will just sneak in, much to the relief of their legions back home. They have competed neck and neck to see who could have the more pathetic tournament, lol. Clear gap between the top 6 and ENG and BD.

Did some number crunching...If Bangladesh loses to Australia by aprox 173 runs or greater, then Sri Lanka will qualify for the Champions Trophy.

On the other hand, if Bangladesh win and England loses, then Bangladesh can finish in 7th place.

Seriously has been pathetic this WC.

There are rumours going around that the broadcasters want CT 2025 to be in T20 format. Obviously ICC have announced it's qualification based on WC standings so it will be quite shameless to go back on this but ICC are shameless anyways so who knows!?

ODI as a format is in serious danger, more so now after this failed WC.

It's my best format.
Watching qualifiers is riveting and usually gut wrenching- for us.
Netherlands did ok and Afghanistan did phenomenally well.
I just can't help feeling that we would have really struggled.
When do we get to face this level of bowling? Our batters would have been at sea. We'd have been needing Gumbie to get us regular 30's off 60 and hope the others get us to 240, basically 70 runs shy of where we need to be.

If you've got decent domestic bowling the batters improve.
I don't know if you can have one without the other, but if you have good batsmen does it improve the bowlers? Less so, I'm sure.

Ya better batters will improve the bowling. Force them to add some variations or whatever to avoid being smacked around.

Naveen Ul Haq is an inaccurate version of Bumrah, when he gets it right he's an outstanding bowler, you'll get unplayable deliveries from him.

Although SA are probably on top here they've been hugely bothered by the Afghan bowling attack.
