Going to be an interesting game. That ability to survive the first 15 overs. Underrated skill
Re: 2023 ODI World Cup Discussion
It's everything. SA are done. Theyd better pray for a monsoon.
They've faced some brutal bowling though. Bavuma chose a bad time to be out of nick, Reeza Hendricks can count himself really unlucky. Had Bavuma not been captain I'm sure he'd have been benching. Its a really awkward and costly situation for SA.
He doesn't look himself personally in the interviews, looks almost sick.
I'm really struggling to see how he averages 47, that's as good as you get as an opener. I've just looked at all his stats and there has to be a mistake there. He's got 5 hundreds and 4 fifties, so effectively 14 fifties out of 37 innings and he must have had at least 6 or 7 single figure scores. That just doesn't equate to an average of 47.

Ok that's bullshit,
Was bothering me so much that I went and found each innings. It's correct.

Maybe he has been out a lot in the 40s. A few not outs too maybe as well?Googly wrote: ↑Thu Nov 16, 2023 10:38 amIt's everything. SA are done. Theyd better pray for a monsoon.

David Miller is cutting loose or trying too now
Re: 2023 ODI World Cup Discussion
I love seeing how the top teams plan and have a winning mentality. I'm 90% certain our brains trust would not give Blessing and Ngarava 15 overs early if they were dominating. Its like we always have set plans. It is a risk but it has put Australia on top for now.
Our batting order rarely changes too. Do something different. If Wes was planned to bat at 7 then he will bat at 7 , even if he is somebody who might have played Sole a bit better. Try something to stop the rot or put you on top. We never do that.

Whoever is in just has to hold his nerve and keep the run rate at an achievable amount and take it deep. Can let it get to 10-12 these days as long as they've still got a couple of decent guys waiting to come in. Back in my day if you let it creep over 6 you would lose
