This has been some game. I'm drained, mostly by shouting at Bavuma.

South africa will probably have Jansen and Coetzee at 7 and 8 for the next 10 years. They have a bright future ahead. They have to seriously target the 2027 world cup at home. Final in Vic falls in our new shiny stadium

South Africa learn nothing from every previous tournament. Always make the same mistakes and the same issues, and then act bewildered when they lose. It's infuriating.

Temba has been so woeful and out of form, such a liability to the side, but he had to play. It's a Philander situation all over again.

CSA needs a Rassie

South Africa were ultimately 20-30 runs short. David Miller needed to bat to the end along with Coetzee who inexplicably didn't challenge his erroneous dismissal.

Markram should have been made captain years ago. He's a natural leader. Bavuma's bowling changes were one or two overs too late. Should have had a slip and should have had catchers under the batters when Coetzee was bowling short.
It would have been an unlikely win, but it was there.

Not having a slip shocked me. It was clear as day that they had to take that chance.

They also dropped a couple. It wasn't their day.

I'm sad for Bavuma. He seems to be a nice guy who truly suffers from the mess he (repeatedly) falls in major competitions.
My judgement is the one of an ousider living thousands miles away: in my opinion Bavuma is not charismatic, he is not a leader and he is not even lucky.
Sorry but it is incredible that he captains one of top teams in the world.

For sake of Bavuma I wish he is to be removed from captaincy; maybe he can concentrate better as a player without extra duties like captaincy and thus performing better.
My outsider impression is that he is been appointed captain more for political reasons rather than merit; however: it's only an impression from an outsider.
