Can someone tell me what the deal with these Afghanis are In relation to cricket ?

Are they Pakistani’s living in the Ghan?
Afghanis in Pakistan ?
Minority of some sort?
Or is cricket now legit mainstream ??
I ask because a lot of the team look Pakistani. Afghans generally have a lighter look to them with a squarer face and often green eyes

There are no Pakistanis in Afghan team.
All of them are Afghans.

Cricket in Afghanistan is bigger then Zimbabwe.

So they are all born and raised there?

We should play with two proper fast bowlers. We are becoming another Bangladesh..
Are there any Afghan fast bowlers other than Dawlat, Shapoor and Hamid who are genuinely quick? Hamid is injured I guess and Shapoor Zadran hasn't been in good form of late. Izatullah Dawlatzai was quick as well but totally disappeared off the scene a few years ago.
Izatullah Dawlatzai gave up cricket.

There are no genuine fast bowlers as far as I know, but some good prospects. They need to encourage and produce more fast bowlers.

There has been quite a few guys like Fareed Malik, Naveen Ul Haq, Ibrahim Sharifi, Sayed Sherzad, Wafadar Momand etc. but none really given a chance.
In these conditions the lack of another fast bowler isn't gonna hurt Afghanistan, but I don't think this should be the long term strategy. Rashid, Nabi and Mujeeb are enough spin options. The rest of the bowlers should be seamers. But I do feel that you guys have a lot more talent in the spin department than pace at the moment. I really liked Qais Ahmad's bowling in the u-19 World Cup and he hasn't even played any List A or FC match yet.

All right, Jarvis lost 15% of his match fees there.

I guess the only positive we can draw out of this match is Ervine's return to form....

Yes.

Cricket is very big in Afghanistan.

No Pakistan cricketers will be allowed to play for Afghanistan. The political situation between the two countries is very bad.

Their players are Pashtuns by origin and there are a lot of Pashtuns in Pakistan as well, hence the similarity.

Afghanistan is a legitimate cricket country with huge support. Even the Taliban allowed cricket, I think it was the only approved sport - they even banned the national past time of kite flying.

This is the best I've seen Cremer bowl, ever. Very good control, great lines and lengths, and that quicker one has also been added to the repertoire and he is using it intelligently. Just that we don't have enough runs on the board to defend.

It is very concerning how rarely we score more than 200 runs now. It seems 170 is about our normal score, with a few lower, and very few higher. Basically no more than two batsmen ever get a decent score in any one game. The makeup of our bowling attack and its form is basically irrelevant when we can't even get to 200.
