[Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan 1st ODI
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan 1st ODI
Nice, proper, professional partnership, this one.
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan 1st ODI
The only good thing about not being able to watch is that I don't have to see Williams and BRMT try and reverse sweep the spinners every 2nd ball lol ......
I reckon they would have pulled out a few today .....

Pitched in line, good height, didn't turn that sharply. Going on to hit middle and leg.
I don't think he has much to complain about there. Even though the footage is kind of grainy it looked like pad first.

I feel that what is stopping Williams from being considered a major player in Zimbabwean cricket (ie. same breath as Taylor and Masakadza) is his lack of big scores. He's actually on track to surpass his current ODI record of 78* today, but still despite his healthy average he's gone nearly 60 ODIs without a century. And he's had plenty of time up the order over the years.jaybro wrote:Williams continues his impressive ODI record, I think I'm right in saying he has best ratio 'innings per 50's' in the team and is now the genuine all rounder in the side .....
If he can rack up a few big ODI scores then the wider cricket community will start to take notice. He's certainly capable of it.
I have no doubt that given a chance he'll rack up big scores at Test level though. By Zimbabwean standards of any era Mawoyo/Sibanda/Masakadza/Taylor/Williams is very good top five.

Williams goes for 70, top knock just wish he could start pushing on for hundreds but that will be tough batting at number 5

And Williams goes for 70. Can Raza get his 50?
Re: [Match Thread] Zimbabwe v Afghanistan 1st ODI
Raza back in which indicates his injury wasn't to bad

Is anyone else surprised Raza came back out?
I would have thought a little average boosting 10 not out would probably be more valuable to Chakabva than another few runs to Raza would be. I guess Raza has a shot at a half century now though which is nice.

I think that's an assessment I've come to accept over the years too. But he can't finish it off today unfortunately. He could have also got his highest score. He needs those big hundreds though, as brmtaylor.com admin puts it.zimfan1 wrote:50 for Sean Williams, has defintley taken on the finisher role over the last couple of years which in a way is a shame as i always thought he would be a great number 3 but then again he does have a clear weakness against pace bowling.
He was probably not an automatic selection for the SA test given the way selection works, but this knock certainly helps him.

A calm uncharacteristic knock by Chigs. He is putting his hat in the ring too, for the test match selection...
