I have always been against cleaning out the entire side, but what are we really achieving? Has this team hit its glass ceiling in terms of potential? How much worse would a team of youngsters do?

It does but the youngsters would get smashed.

We would be back to applauding 24 as a good fighting innings and celebrating 1 fers as penetrating spells.

Jongwe gets a wicket and 20, the odd bloke gets to double figures and we struggle to 95 all out whilst the other team posts 325.

Bad as the significant losses are there is plenty of scope for Chari to be a lesser batsman than Matsi was for all those years.

Chari getting stumped for zero at the end of day's play certainly doesn't bode well.

It really does feel like we are doomed. Our current team stinks and struggles to beat associates, but they are still light years ahead of our youngsters.

I think a happy medium is to take chances on more youngsters such as Jongwe, Burl, etc. How many times do we have to watch Waller struggling?

I'd take the punt on a Musoko or Mumba sooner rather than later. Waiting for wickets all the time is no way forward. Hami back and Waller out. Chigs seems to have no influence over anyone. Raza should take over the captaincy.

Exactly what we must do. But the concern, for a long time, has been that we are not producing any young batsmen to take over from the Taylor - Hami - Williams generation.

Raza will make a good captain for his instincts.

Yes - pick the best 5 or 6 batsmen and stick with them. Then pick ONE under twenty five player to expose. Gumbie, Burl, etc.

Keep Cremer, Panyangara, Chatara if he ever gets back and pick ONE under twenty five seamer to expose. Musoko etc.

Seems like such clear common sense. Not sure why no one at ZC can think on these simple lines.

Then leave the rest of the squad open to youngsters like Burl, Moor, Musoko, Chisoro, etc. Players like Sibanda, Waller, Chakabva only get a look-in if they score a ton of runs domestically - either in Zimbabwe or elsewhere. We are noticeably lacking an established keeper, no doubt Prosper will put his hand up. How good is Gumbie?
