The future of Elton

Hi I am Zimdoggy,
And I would like to bring Elton talk to the table.

I ran some numbers and he is averaging 7 over the last 9 one day games.

7.

This has all been from the number 5 or 6 position. The most comfortable in zim cricket in the sense that he comes after the ball has softened and before the run rate pressure kicks in.

He has been abysmal and his bowling and captaincy is on par with Elton John.

Most fans here and on Facebook are calling for his head.

I am personally not quite ready to banish him to the bin just yet, however he and Waller are a nuisance at the moment and just holding back the Burls of the world.

I personally believe he is in our top 7 bats in the country for one dayers (only sure to his hitting abilities, or lack thereof in the wider team) but I think he has to drop the captaincy for his own career.
He's no master tactician anyway. Let razz do that.

After the next series and the World Cup let's reassess a responsibility free chigumbura, and if he is still failing then it's time to go Gidfather and make him disappear for good.

Yup he is getting stale...you mirrored our thoughts zimdoggy..need we say more abt this?..but funny u said that should that we should "make" him disappear for good,..Remember mountains had to be moved to eject an utseya out..so unless a similar saga unfolds,(guessing a fixin scandal mayb) his presence in the team is immutable..but as for waller,i need not comment.

When Waller is on song, like Elton, he is magical.

However, JHe cant handle batting 6 or less. Proven failure there.

We must 'sacrifice him up the innings' or at least 3,4,5 and see how he goes.

I can see the possibility of an Ervine style awakening if that happened.

If it doesnt work, then yeah, rub him out.

Ironically, I want it to be known that despite their failings, BOTH players are amongst my first picked for the t20 side.

This is for ODI's.

Elton should relinquish the captaincy so that he can concentrate on his game, just like Amla did the other day. Its absolutely imperative!

But if you look at it in perspective, he is just another product of a VERY ROTTEN system. What do you expect when you shun quality experience (Blignaut, Ewing, etc) but opt for masqueraders (Timoni, Mangongo & a host of others strewn all over the FC set-up with hardly any cricket credentials worth mentioning but can gladly accept to be paid a pittance).

To thrive in cricket just like any other trade, you need to live, think & breath it. Not just see it as meas to an end. Until cricket cuts loose the shackles of captivity by the INEPT MASQUERADERS/ADMINISTRATION, expect worse, forget about Chiza's prophecy!!

Agree with everything in the original post. He should have been relieved of captaincy long ago. If puppets are what they looking for, they can at least have a different puppet.
