[Match Thread] U19 WC Plate SF: Zimbabwe vs Sri Lanka

Post by CrimsonAvenger »

Yes, we are playing that team again! Up against the Sri Lankans in U19s this time. If we manage to win this match, we would be finishing at least as high as our last T20 team who exceeded many people's abysmal expectations.

But no, this time, there are no batsmen except Madhevere who has struck some runs and we will capitulate to a massive defeat having to settle for 11th or 12th later. The Lankan kids are ready for a revenge on behalf of their senior team, having executed a massacre of Kenya in their QF match.

Taun Harrison to take 3 wickets, Shumba to blast a half century, Dollar to go for a quickfire 30 and Roache in the 40's

Not bad. Setting a target of 260 for SL, irrespective of whatever is the eventual outcome of the match. Our batting comes through for once. There was never a doubt once TJS the Great was picked in the XI though :)

The English import Donald Mlambo debuts and scores a slow 50, but a stable one that probably helped others to score around him. He could / should have accelerated later.

Good little knocks by Shumba and Roche.

Only fools can lead Zimbabwe in Cricket it seems. SL tottering at 31/3 after 6 overs. 3 overs each for TJS and Nungu, and skipper Roche feels like ringing in changes - and they go for runs against Frost and Myers.

When will we ever get a thinking captain in Zim?

Well, he has gone mad with bowling changes. We had a golden opportunity to win and we are throwing it away...

While Roche continues to experiment with random throw of dice and one over "spells" to his bowlers, the Afghans have pasted NZ with 202 run win to move to the Semis. NZ were probably the second best batting unit behind India (could arguably even be the best) in the competition and were bowled out for 107.

Zimbabwe have to keep an eye on Mujeeb Zadran..as they will play against him in UAE..

From what I've seen is he only bowls carrom balls which somehow not many have been able to pick up
