Post by ZIMDOGGY »

Whats this guys deal?

I can see he is born in SA, but he is listed as a Zimbabwean in all the sites ive been too....doesnt appear to have played first class a[part from his debut for Matabeleland on the weekend.

He played well....is he one of US....or one of THEM?

He replaced Keith Dabengwa, who was presumably withdrawn so that he could make his way to SA with the national team.

i dont understand how you can just 'replace' someone halfway through a game.

Otherwise you could put in Gus Mackay halfway through an under 17s game when times are tough.

I dont think they were doing it hoping no one would notice, because ones a white guy the other is dark and the spectators picked it instantly.

That said,
I like the look of this Tranchard bloke...im strongly hoping he is a Zimbabwean of SA heritage (like A flower and Strydom were). He played the most dazzling 50 ive seen in 5 years.
He did it all.

Pull shots, cut shots etc.

Im kind of hoping he gets picked for the A teams second match.....i hold high hopes for this bloke.

It's permitted under certain circumstances - like one of your team being hauled away on national duty half-way through the match, as happened here. I understand it also happens in English county games from time to time, for the same reason.

You can't just substitute people willy-nilly, though.

Gus Mackay would be a super-sub with his thunderbolt-like bowling and his lusty blows with the bat.
