Keith Dabengwa...

Okay i'm not going to try and turn this into another hate thread, i'm actually bored of them! But I would like to hear what everybody thinks about his inclusuion. I mean not offence to him, but he kinda looks out of place. I mean just look at the squad we've got.

He's 30 years old and he's never scored an international half century in his his 37 international games. Poor selection, poor thinking.

Hmm...I am working on an anti-Dabengwa thread at the moment which will analyse his international performances.

There is no way he should be in the team. He and Matsi need to go and start their own team and stop ruining everyone else's.

Dabengwa as an ODI batsman:

Highest score of 45* vs Pakistan in 2008.
Average of 19.45 which is somewhat inflated due to 7 not outs as he generally bats at 7 or lower.
He has scored 30 runs or more only 5 times in 31 total innings.
Against other test playing nations he has never played a match winning knock, and infact Zimbabwe has only won 12 of the 34 ODIs Dabengwa has played in, with 8 of those wins coming against non test playing countries.


His bowling average is 41.14 having taken 21 wickets in 32 matches that he has bowled. 10 of those wickets have come against non test playing countries. Perhaps only match winning bowling performance against major opposition was against Bangladesh in 2009 where he took 3/15. This pitch was however a minefield with Bangladesh scoring 124 batting first and Zimbabwe barely winning by 2 wickets.


I think what these stats show is that Dabengwa has contributed little with bat or ball and has rarely contributed to any victories. I can understand his selection a bit more five years ago as we didnt even 11 players of international class so there were always going to be a few passengers. But now with many more quality players, including an abundance of spin bowlers who can bat a bit (similar to Dabengwa), I can't understand why he is being selected. I do however think Dabengwa can be a decent domestic player.

Dabengwa averages 32 in Bang against Bang, Sean 28 despite scoring back to back 50s the other series. Statisticaly he averages better than Hamilton in Bang so he deserves to be in the squad.

I hate to be against the world but we cant take a team full of inexperienced guys Meth, Butterworth, Chakabva, Mutizwas and expect to win in a country Australia almost lost a test match in.

I dont like Dabengwa but i feel yo arguments are not based on facts. Unless if we risk loosing this series to allow some other new guys to gain experience for the world cup. Look at every1s record against Bang in Bang, thats more important than all these other stats

Sir Mupariwa....how many facts do you need to show the lack of quality on Dabenwa. Just look up ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^
