LANSDOWN Cricket Club have recruited former Zimbabwe Under-19 star Tinashe Chimbambo for the upcoming season.

Chimbambo (25) is represented his country through the age-groups, played in the ICC Under-19 World Cup and earned a Zimbabwe A call-up in 2008.

A batsman, wicket-keeper and off-spin bowler, he was his sides leading run-scorer in the group stages of the Under-19 World Cup in 2008. He earned selection for the A side on his return, playing against Sri Lanka in the same year.

Thereafter, he was offered a cricket scholarship to join the University of Western Cape (UWC) and, alongside his studies, established himself as a reliable top-order batsman.

In 2010/11, he helped his UWC side to the One-Day Championship. The following year, he guided UWC to the One and Two-Day double in the Western Province Cricket Association (WPCA).

In 2012/13, he finished his studies and was no longer eligible to play for UWC, so moved to his current club Durbanville where he continues to shine.

The talented cricketer is now eager to return abroad after a season in the Middlesex League for Harrow St Mary’s last year.

Lansdown will be hoping their new Zimbabwean recruit will add the quality to help them to the West of England Premier League (Bristol and NS Division) title this season after finishing one point shy from promotion last season.
