Zimbabwe Under 19s in New Zealand 2017
Re: Zimbabwe Under 19s in New Zealand 2017
I promise that this is the cause of our problems. Here we have a really promising player that will end up being on the list of people with real ability that never reached their full potential because neither ZC nor the schools have have the correct pathways for talented youngsters and because the good’uns can’t play enough really competitive cricket. If this guy was in one of the other test playing countries he’d become a star. For starters he’s not encouraged to bowl fast and the reality is that there’s only about 3 batters in his age group that wouldn’t shit themselves facing him. He actually bowls off a short run up and well within himself for accuracy instead of just bowling quick. In fact I’ve only seen one kid with a decent balanced run up that engenders pace, that’s young Erasmus at St Johns, he gives it the full welly and he’s also got gas. I know there’s emphasis on long term athlete development (or whatever it’s called) to make sure they don’t hurt themselves, but this kid needs expert bowling coaching and a training program right now. He will also get smoke blown up his arse coz he’s the next great Black hope (like Jongwe) and then there will be a small clique within ZC that may not like him because he’s at a private school. These are some of the guys Taibu is hopefully talking about.

Keith has only just left school, somehow he managed to stay back at least one year, if not two. When he’s fired up and running in he’s a damned good seamer. He used to be a decent bat as well, but let that slide.

Re: Zimbabwe Under 19s in New Zealand 2017
If our new CEO really wanted to do something meaningful he could start by tidying up age group selections and get us more games. We had a nice July tour for a couple of the age groups which Singo managed to get us uninvited from for a host of dismissable offenses. ZC have to get rid of this guy, he’s done untold damage over the years. The sheer skullduggery that goes on is outrageous. With so few decent players dotted across the age groups it’s surely doubly important that the best players are picked.
Flakeman is complaining about Robinson but the stand out questionable pick is Makoni Jr. This is a high profile competition and this stinks. There are no repercussions for the culprits, in fact they keep getting the job. There’s a nasty little rumour of a couple of Vic Falls trips thrown in as well that is worth an investigation.
I once watched an assessment of an U19 side at the CFX facility many years ago. There were three well known coaches and 2 ZC ones. They had to watch the players bat, bowl and field. There was a list of criteria that they had to assess from 1-10. It had to be done independently with no discussion between them. I saw the results- the three well respected guys’ results were almost identical and the other two blokes were so far off the money you just had to shake your head in disbelief. We have to deal with the two muppets to this day. It’s unbelievable.
