Ya,you're right but pace above 140 is required to trouble the batsmen :)
Ya exactly. Glen Mcgrath was a prime example. He was quick enough, around the 83-84mph mark and still manages to move it about. We need to find somebody like this
Glen Mcgraths are a rare breed. Zimbabwe's gonna need to have a domestic infrastructure as strong as atleast sri lanka, to develop a Mcgrath like bowler. You don't need to bowl over 140s to succeed, see Chaminda Vaas in his prime or even Shaun Pollock in his last few years. Jarvis seems to have a ton of potential, streak should pay close attention to him.

No i wasn't saying that we should build our attack around Glen Mcgrath, I was just just pointing out that pace isn't everything. Jarvis will be a good fast bowler, but he needs giudence from his senior coaches

Blignauts 3 spells were prime example that you dont need pace to cause a problem. McGrath's contant line and length that gave batsmen no room and forces them to play shots out of their comfort zone was the main reason he finished with a test average of 21.50.

McGrath never bowled over 90mph and for most of his career was between 80-85 then 75-80 at the end. He was still world class while bowling 75 because no1 could get him away. Pace is just something that gives a batsman something extra to work with if its a bad ball, take away the pace and your left with nothing to glance away.

Hit where your meant to as a bowler and you cant be slagged.

yes i agree.

its like when girls talk about penis size. You dont have to be big to be succesful at all but having size is an advantage alot of the time, and sometimes they just want a brutal hammering when its required.
follows same logic.

Kyle Jarvis will learn. He's the perfect example of a young, raw fast bowler. He's got very little control, but what he does have is pace and Bounce. Since Heath Streak or maybe Travis Friend we've not had a genuine pace bowler who hits the deck hard. With a little bit of help from Heath Streak, he's a star in the making.
Agree :D

Anyway, Pommie was never lighting quick, but neither was he a prolific wicket taker. Yet he always brought the rate down, because of his placement. But to win Tests you need to take wickets, I just want to see more than potential in the near future.
