The future of cricket.
Re: The future of cricket.
Instead of completely eliminating ODI's, I think it should be made a world-cup only format. There should be a large organization willing to put together top club teams from around the world and create a t20 tournament similar to that of the UAEFA champions league in soccer. Also, the number of test teams should be increased from 9 to 10 (zimbabwe being the team added) and they would have to play atleast 1 test match against each other every year, ICC clearly doesn't have the balls to do that, but hey, I can dream right ?

I don't mind having T20, but I just hope the IPL doesn't ruin cricket for everyone else. International cricket is where its at
Yes i agree,
i cant get into a team based overseas with ridiculous names like "the super kings" but i do enjoy it as a spectacle. i just dont care who wins...theres no passion or pride in the teams.
If anyones ever been lucky enough to see an australian rugby league 'state of origin' between those of NSW and those of QLD heritage you would REALLY see what its like to have passion, loyalty, pride of heritage and how it lifts players to excel. It brings out the "ill die for the person next to me" mentality.

IPL will never have the feeling of that!
A state of origin match is probably one of the greatest spectacles in world sport...it is absolutely electric.

Australian Rugby League's State of Origin is one of the most passionate, enthralling sporting events on earth, right up there with the great soccer derbies (Celtic v Rangers, Boca Juniors v River Plate, etc).
The amazing thing with State of Origin is that is doesn't actually have a long tradition, it was something that really only took off in the 1980s popularity wise. You would never guess that now - it seems like the two sides have been slugging it out for centuries.
International cricket has lost some of these passionate rivalries beacuse of too many meaningless games. i remember how big the Pakistan v India series was when the two countries resumed cricketing ties. Unfortunately they then proceeded to play each other 50 times per year and now the series is no big deal. IPL will never garner more than a passing interest from fans. i am interested to see how some individual players perform but I could care less who wins. I don't even remember who won the just completed IPL.

Mumbai Indians lost the final. I remember coz I have a colleague from Mumbai who's passionate about these things. It means less to us non-Indians, I guess. Unlike football English Premiership where people from all over the world have adopted Arsenal, Man U or whatever.

Re: The future of cricket.
Test cricket is the real game of cricket world where performance and stamina both are measured but in T-20 cricket their is no measurement of performance or stamina. Players give attention only towards score.
