Re: Antum Naqvi
Coincidentally Raza was an aspiring pilot as well

Re: Antum Naqvi
Knackerville is amazingly consistent. I don't think he's had a failure yet. We haven't ever seen anything like it. And he takes wickets.
If his numbers don't spark some batters into much more practice and better performances then it's futile.
Hes not a Davey Houghton with an extraordinary array of shots and great touch that's beyond 99.9% of people, he's just solid and knows his game. Any franchise player can aspire to that, it's within reach.

I’d forgotten that Raza wanted to be a pilot. Ya crazy coincidence
If knackerville wasn’t hyped up so much on this forum ZC could have snuck him in under the radar, said he’s lived here years and fast tracked him into the national side. As it stands everyone knows he’s a kid from overseas and proceedings need to take a slightly more official path.
Hope he appreciates even for all his dad’s investment he still won’t get as long a rope as the takashinga boys, that is one thing that can’t be bought and has to be earned, if he ever gets it. 3 bad performances in a row and it’s a very different place for him.

Well he is a Takashinga boy, played for them in the NPL.

Naqvi won’t have even half the career Raza has had and I’m willing to bet the farm on thatTapsC2 wrote: ↑Sat Nov 04, 2023 7:04 am
If he has a Raza like career he will recoup. People underestimate how much these guys make especially Raza with all these T20 leagues. This is why I get frustrated sometimes. The top guys are well looked after and earn much better than 99.9% of the people in this country.
It's also why sometimes I think the senior players will push on for a bit. The money is good. If they dont join Hami they won't get that money anywhere else in Zim unless they start their own Bitumen World or venture big time into tobacco.

Re: Antum Naqvi
My opinion is that all good international cricketers who are willing to play Zimbabwe domestic leagues should be welcome: they may increase the quality and appeal of the domestic league.
On the other hand, I disagree if such players may considered for the national team as it seems the case of Antum Naqvi.
Zimbabwe has to fish inside its pool of prospects, those at home and the few in the diaspora. No hiring from disguised foreigners.
Alternatively the risk is that dozens of "mercenaries", dropped out from Indian and pakistani leagues, would flood Zimbabwe aiming at the opportunity of an international career that they can't reach by staying at home.
Such a flood would compromise Zimbabwean grassroots maybe forever.

Dane schadendorff is the next lad who I'd be keeping a close eye on after next year. He could push Madande hard and he's still very young too.
