This is all assuming it is a high profile coach and not Elton or someone.
Zolsky would still be spinning this.

"ZC have hired a national great as head coach. Well Done Mr Mukhulani for empowering the future of our sport and ensuring the legacy continues"

WITH India set to tour Zimbabwe next month for a T20I series, Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has re-iterated that a substantive coach will be appointed in time for the tour.

The men’s cricket team has had no substantive coach since the resignation of Dave Houghton in October last year after the Chevrons failed to qualify for the 2024 T20 World Cup.

A few weeks before India tours Zimbabwe for a series of five T20I, ZC managing director, Givemore Makoni, has revealed that the appointment of a substantive coach was almost done, with an announcement expected in the next “few days”.

“We have started the process of identifying a coach for the senior men’s and Under-19 teams. We had a rigorous interview process to ensure that we appoint the right people to take the two teams forward.

“We are finalising the appointment of coaches and we should be making an announcement of the new coach in the next few days,” said Makoni.
Makoni said there was an overwhelming response, hence they did rigorous screening to ensure that the best people assume the post of the head coach.

“We had an overwhelming response from several coaches both locally and internationally and it has been an impressively meticulous process that ensures we appoint the right person who can take us forward,” he said.

He said the new coach is expected to start rebuilding to ensure that the country has a competitive side for the next Cricket World Cup in 2027.
Zimbabwe is set to co-host the 2027 Cricket World Cup with Namibia and South Africa.

“We failed to make it to the World Cup and now we are at the rebuilding stage where we have a number of players leaving international cricket and playing more domestic cricket.

“We have a young and exciting crop that is coming up, and the new man is going to take charge of that.
“Our focus is not only on India, but long term and we are looking at big events that are going to come such as the T20 World Cup and the men’s World Cup,” said Makoni.

He hinted that interim coach, Stewart Matsikinyire is likely to retain his place in the technical team.
I really like to get the luck what matsikenyeri have, man really have high level job security without contributing much

If we end up with a person like Elton or Prosper, then there needs to be an audit.

He can't build it up that we have had high candidates and then we end up with that dross. They always make it sound like the zim role is appealing to a huge audience, then we end up with a Rajput or some shit.

Adam Theo on X is saying that talks with Grant Flower have collapsed at an advanced stage. Is this true SZ, Googly, anyone?

Russell Domingo.

I would rather have had Grant but sounds like he got a better offer last minute.

Domingo is better than I expected to be fair
