If this is kotla, he might be putting away the flies/bees. The latter always got attracted whenever 'Flowers' bloom at delhi.
Otherwise you can say, Guy is in habit of doing such silly things. Remember the incident when he was so furious about his dismissal that he ran to just opposite side of pavillon. Only when crowd started laughing he realised and travelled the whole distance again.
