The Sports and Recreation Commission has barred former Zimbabwe Cricket chairman Wilson Manase from holding any position at any national sports association for four years.
Manase is accused of unilaterally approving the senior national cricket team’s tour to Pakistan in May this year.
Manase, a Harare based lawyer who lost the ZC chairman’s post to Bulawayo pharmacist Tavengwa Mukuhlani, is understood to have been charged in his personal capacity since he allegedly made the decision on the visit without consulting the rest of the cricket governing mother body’s board.
According to the SRC ruling sent to ZC last Wednesday and in possession of this publication, Manase is accused of undertaking an unauthorised tour to Pakistan, an act which was in contravention of section 28 of the SRC general regulations, that is going on a tour that is not given the green light by the supreme sports governing body in the country. The verdict was signed by SRC disciplinary committee chairperson Aisha Tsimba-Nyamwenda.

They could have raised this issue at any point prior to the tour, surely?

Its a security situation, it has nothing to do with cricket per say I think.

The questions which must be really raised are whether our security agencies where competent enough to take the right decision on not, regarding the Pakistan tour. We are all glad the tour went ahead, and took place without major incident and hopefully one day all countries will be able to tour Pakistan without any issues, but would we be saying the same thing if a bomb had went off and maimed somebody?

Its important that such questions are asked and if he followed stated protocol

Whether the right decision was taken at the end, to and if Mananse indeed erred by okaying the tour despite state objection, I do not know and cannot say, but such debates are import and its necessary that they take place.

So then does the SRC have jurisdiction over the security organisations/personnel that supposedly compromised the safety of our players? Manase will just claim he acted on the advice of experts. We all know that someone got paid handsomely to make sure this went ahead and we all know that taking Manase out the picture for 4 years is way too convenient and just consolidates the grip at ZC. It's an excessive time frame, we don't have 4 years.

Players claim they weren't paid more to tour so I'm guessing the boys at ZC probably took home the bribe money from the pakis ......

Yes why now indeed? Could be someone wasnt paid so after chasing up on their share they realised nothing was coming...

On the other hand yes we want cricket but not at the sake of the lives of cricketers. If he was advised against going and ignored then he deserves what he gets.

This is all bullshit Campbell and Ozias Bvute were very vocal and involved when it came to this tour so don't tell me Mansae went against the advice to not tour without the these other 2 guys knowing ???

A few questions please.

1. If Manase is being charged for the trip, why is the Adviser to the ZC board not being charged too?
He was in Pakistani and addressed well and eloquently at a press conference on behalf of ZC, The board and the country. This man attends ZC board meetings and what does it mean by him being on the flight ahead of Manase to Pakistani?
Was he not also aware as an adviser to the board of ZC...? ZC Adviser Ozias Bvute come up and clean the messy SRC is spilling or get charged too.
2. The board was not informed. Really? Who was then and is Bhila to ZC today? Who was Matemai then? ZC Board Members...
How did they travel to Pakistani if they were not informed of the TRIP? Equally charge them
3. Mr Manase what wrong have you done to ZC...Maybe come up and say your side to balance issues. You are a lawyer Appeal against this rubbish. Even a junior lawyer at your firm can represent you and win this matter against your enemies and SRC.
If you were not respectable, you would be appointed by the GVt on to the country's strategic boards.

We are watching, Its payback time against personal vendettas.
