is zim fixing matches for $€¥

Post by zimstarr »

We are now so bad that u cant help but start suspecting that some of the underperfoming players are fixing matches . If hansie was persuaded to do it then the odds of persuading a zim player might be very slim . Being bowled for 82 by Afghanistan is totally unacceptable

It is my belief this could very well be happening and could have been happening for a long time

Doubtful since it couldn't possibly be for much money. For crooks to pay ZIM players enough to take the risk of lifetime bans - even thats assuming ZIM players have zero pride/patriotism to begin with - they have to make serious money on a ZIM loss. That only happens if betters bet heavily on a ZIM win...which probably has never happened even since 1992. For example what were the odds of the Chrismas day ODI? I'd guess at most ZIM were 4/3 favorites, meaning a winning bet of 100 quid would only win you 133. That margin is not big enough for bookies to take the risk of approaching ZIM players to fix the game. Even if they did, how much could they afford to pay Ervine to play that shot? 10 bucks maybe.

Now there could be spot fixing but that wouldn't likely affect match outcomes. In other words, a fix is probable when there is a massive upset. So far there haven't been any.

I looked at Sportsbet before the game briefly and I saw zim were 1.5 favs and afg were about 3.5. So some money on an afghan win.

The reappoint you raised is how much total money is out laid on these Zimbabwe games.... The fixers would need to hide in the crowd so to speak.

3.5 for AFG? Hmmm thats substantial, I wouldn't have thought that since AFG won in ZIM and would be more likely to win in UAE conditions. I'd have thought It would be even or maybe 1.5 to AFG. Plus only seperated by a single point on the official rankings. 3.5 juat doesn't sound right to me. That would mean a big majority of betters have confidence in a ZIM win, and there record doesn't indicate that to be the case.

I'm sure there is decent money being put on the games. Its just those odds don't seem right.

I think it was a typo by the dogg; when I looked they were at $2.50. In the home series earlier this year it was $1.40 to $2.80 Zim's way and the Tuesday's game has us at $1.90 each so the money has definitely been shifting

There was a player who was caught while still talking to bookies and it was obviously squashed by ZC, US80k offered. But that's homework for anyone who would want to know who it was...

Is there betting on Logan Cup matches? That would be a good place to fix matches or to spot fix.
