Expected Squad for 5 odis against Afghanistan

Post by Black Mamba »

Zimbabwe to play five odis against Afghanistan. Recent performances of youths for Zimbabwe A against Afghanistan A will clearly draw selector's eye for getting them in National Colours.

If Selectors picks the squad according to performance then then squad should simply look like these :

Graeme Cremer ( Captain ), Hamilton Masakadza, Craig Ervine, Sean Williams, Sikandar Raza, Ryan Burl, Peter Moor ( Wicket Keeper) , Tarisai Musakanda, Tendai Chisoro, Tendai Chatara, Richard Ngarava, Donald Tiripano, Malcolm Waller, Nathan Waller, Carl Mumba, Brendan Mavuta, Tinashe Panyangara ( depending on fitness) / Luke Jongwe , Nevil Madziva, Innocent Kaia

Our pace bowlers are not up tostandard so I don't see the point in playing pace other than Chatara and Chamu. You've also got Golden Arm if needs be. Chisoro is really good. Cremer too. Williams is proven. Burl can bowl ! Raza one or two as well. Plus you bat all the way down to 10.

Hmm, I see that you have picked Malcolm Waller and have made him the keeper too. Pretty much the only way he can get into the playing XI...

By the way, everyone has confidently discarded Chigumbura. What makes you think ZC will not pick him in the squad at least? Isn't he the new team mascot along with Malcolm?

Which H Masakadza is everyone selecting though, the one who used to be the cornerstone of the Zim batting order or the one who has only passed 30 twice in his last 10 matches?

The H. Masakadza that is one of the top 3 batsmen in the country. He's really good. No one is better who could replace him anyway.

Brilliant. More fresh faces. Nathan Waller wouldn't have been anywhere near the A squad let alone the national squad if he kept playing as just a batter. Glad he's back bowling, looks to be a handy limited overs player. Burl had to play after these performances.
