This report from Day tells that Regis was pulling Mpofu caught in the boundary after 29 dot balls, I guess the pressure got to him ?

Bobby showing he’s not a spent force with 3 wickets so far. Not giving up his spot in the side without a fight

Instead of defending a 30 ball duck by Chakabva why not compliment a good half century by Cephas Zhuawo..

It's too late. His best chance under normal circumstances is at 1st change via injuries, or at 2nd change in a four man pace attack.

Unfortunately Streak long wasted his best years by bowling him 2nd and 3rd change for Tuskers years ago behind Querl and Meth who didn't really stand a chance of making internationals. That was Mpofu's(and Ncube's) time. Now it doesn't make much sense. He was always going to struggle to match Shingi, Panyngara, Chatara, Jarvis and Vitori who got the new ball for their franchises. One would argue Taurai Muzarabani, Garwe, Chinouya, Tiripano etc woudn't have made the national team if they weren't bowling much with the new ball. Mpofu spent a season or two without that privilege. That has to affect your game somehow.

Chris Mpofu has bowled well but that's largely due to it being his homeground and not that Queens has suddenly become a seamer's paradise.

This is still Queens, and in view of th WI Tets being played there, then both Williams and Raza should be bowling more.

If the decision was made to drop Nyumbu, them perhaps Ndlovu should have been dropped too, with a batsman coming in. Being one of the better bats in Zimbabwe by quite a margin, I think Nkosana Mpofu would have been gutted to miss out.

Game is in Harare bud. Good from Mpofu notheless. I reckon there is not much difference amongst Zim's player pool, selecting someone who is in good form may actually pay off. Hoping Vitori is working on his action then just maybe our seam attack may come right for once.

You get the point but you're in denial and focusing on a non-issue. Playing the man. Typical.

Chakabva came in 2nd ball of the 4th over at position number four after fielding for 64 overs!!!

Just admit that before making these points you either hadn't checked this or taken it into consideration.

These very same points were in consideration regarding QdK and batting number 4 in England. Zimbabwe had the Andy Flower 4/5 discussion plenty times. If you think it makes sense for Regis to open twice in a Test match while keeping, and praised non-keeping+non-bowling Moor then for a similar 40, while bashing Regis for failing, how could I possibly expect different reasoning right now.

In both the SL Test and this EAG-TKR match, the situations are pretty much the same. How can someone who just scored a 1st innings century and a 2nd innings 48 against SA EME be off form when no other batsman scored over 37 runs that innings? Just like BD, ZIM will play SA EME before they face SA in the Test. It will be very interesting to see because they'll rip into ZIM. :D

In that sames 1st innings against SL - before he batted - Regis did score 12 runs opening, while Moor scored just 19 from #7. What exactly did you want him to do after keeping for 100+ overs? Malcolm Waller batting at #8 bowled just 5 overs in total.

There is nothing wrong with Regis, and I think already a number of people have said as much. Malcolm, Moor and Sean Williams are arguably below Regis' class as a Test batsman and even if someone like Mutumbami keeps ahead of Regis, Chakabva will and should still be in line as a specialist batsman pick.

NB: Would you be ok with a non-batting+non-bowling Regis batting at number 7/8?
We are not playing the man, we are playing the ball. Your point that Chakabva's duck was an admirable innings is plainly ridiculous. It would have been better to say Chakabva failed with the bat but it must be remembered he had just been fielding for 64 overs, instead you drag other players such as PJ Moor who isn't even playing in the same game into the equation and needlessly diminish his innings.

This match is being played at HSC, not Queens...

 You're right. I just checked again. It was Queens yesterday. When did Cricinfo change it? But they forgot to swap Tuskers and Eagles to show that Eagles is the home side. Whose fault is this - scorer or new Cricinfo website or Guptas?
