Ya pretty hard to whine about Zim when the Afghans have a side like that. NZ were strong, they have an outside chance of winning this.
Those bowling changes were inexplicable.
This would have been a much better side with the missing 4. Why replace Dollar with Shardendorf, surely pick both of them? Shardendorf finally gets a game and top scores.

Googly, what's TJS like as a batter? Haven't seen him play nor bowl. He's blasted four 6's so I assume he can whap the ball a bit

Zim and Afghanistan just don't compare. The country--or at least it's biggest ethnic group--has gone absolutely cricket mad in a short time and in the absence of any other serious sporting tradition/competition (if you exclude a sort of horse-back rugby with sheep carcases).

And why the hell did TJS not get a game before?

Looks like a real beefy boy. Hopefully he can get a ticket on the Rising Stars tour this summer. I'll be going to more games to watch for sure

He’s certainly put in some practice over the years, a lot of it on the bowling machine playing in the V, which really is what it’s about when you’re under pressure. He was one of about 4 boys from that era that really made an effort. I haven’t seen him of late but he was never very good at rotating strike or the quick singles. When he was younger this meant he got bogged down a lot against better bowling, but now that he can hit the ball harder and clearly has more awareness it’s obviously less of an issue and I’m sure that as he’s matured this aspect of his game has developed, but there’s no scampering between the wickets
He’s also a handy seamer, you don’t expect such a heavy ball from someone his shape, and he bowls decent line and length. He’s a solid player. As I’ve said before, his younger brother has got real flair, I’ve seen some good innings from him, but he hasn’t done much of late, which is surprising. At junior levels, especially here against shite bowling good batters generally try too much too early when it’s unnecessary. There’s such a mental aspect to getting big scores regularly and it’s unlikely that you’re going to regularly blaze your way to hundreds. The one kid that did do that was Curran. I think it was in Form 1 here when he got 7 or 8 hundreds in double quick time, but used to get dropped a few times, largely because he hit the ball so hard. He was fun to watch. I see he’s made the England T20 side. Amazing.

Obviously it’s just supposition but the game against Sri Lanka last night could have easily had a different outcome with both Dollar and Shardendorf batting and less panic from the Captain. Shardendorf clearly annoyed Steve at some point at the beginning of the campaign and had to warm the bench. I saw the one game earlier on he didn’t bowl, which probably meant he had an injury that precluded him from bowling but he could bat, I’m willing to bet that started whatever issue there may have been.
