For the next game I'd get Lamb in and drop Chagabva.
Atleast with Lamb you get a genuine threat with the ball and an anchor with the bat.

At least we put up a bit of a fight at the end. I think we were shown today just how far behind the big boys we are.

Well...i agree, and i disagree.eugene wrote:At least we put up a bit of a fight at the end. I think we were shown today just how far behind the big boys we are.
We matched them in the field, our spinners are arguably the best in the tournament, perhaps level with the spinners of Bangladesh, and our batting is just as hot and cold as Pakistan's. Yes, we're obviously behind the likes of Australia and England, but not miles behind.
But I do understand where you're coming from...
And just off the subject, a certain Mr Ian Nicholson is taking a number of wickets back home in Zimbabwe for the Rhinos...another 4for!
Re: [Match Thread] Australia vs Zimbabwe
Disagree. I'm sure they were all up for it 100%. Sadly Zim's batsmen <<< Aussies' batsmen...bayhaus wrote: Our guys are not hungry enough.

Bowling was superb. A team like Australia is restricted in 260 odd is amazing. Credit goes to the fielding department as well. However, the achievement of bowling and fielding is overtaken by the failure of batting.
Just as a side information, in Bangladesh there are tremendous support for Zimbabwe. I was just reading a local Bengali newspaper's online edition. There are some reader's comments in English, where you can see that general people are behind Zimbabwe.

Re: [Match Thread] Australia vs Zimbabwe
its a bit difficult to measure our progress against OZ, they recently swiped England 6-1 on current form and the last time we beat them in ODIs is in the 80s. We can look at the NZ and Pakistan game, we have to beat one of them at least and all the associates. The good thing is OZ is out of the way, we just need to work harder.
Re: [Match Thread] Australia vs Zimbabwe
it is not surprising they couldn't handle the pace of lee, tait et al. most teams cannot. but it was good to see the energy in the field, it reminded me of when the spinners were bowling at Gayle in the carribean last year. Taibu was vocal and the spinners were getting support from the close fielders. Utseya looked good like he did last year and Mpofu has improved so much from the bungler in the field and the bunny with the bat, he managed to keep out tait somehow towards the end of the innings. also good to see Cremer and Utseya battle with the bat, many on this forum say they are more than handy down the order and they proved this today against a very good attack. at the end of the day the top order just couldn't handle the pace, that is the only reason for the defeat really, so if i'm being optimistic there are lots of positives for butcher, streak etc. to take into the next game.

Re: [Match Thread] Australia vs Zimbabwe
I didnt gv our bowler s credit coz it was a given i thnk we bowled and feilded excellently. The "not hungry" was for the batsmen becuase i knw they have the ability they can and i bet Aus were worried cos they zim could reach that score.
Re: [Match Thread] Australia vs Zimbabwe

Yep, jimbo is right, theres no better game to try the second seamer than against an associate - no disrespect to Canada. See if Masakadza can have a good game and try him against Sri Lanka and Pak. After all four spinners wont work against the Lankans. Been inspired by the Netherlands today. Wish they had played earlier. They would have given our batsmen more gumption against Australia yersterday
