Burl is one of our better players and he did really well in the domestic T20 but I do agree with them dropping him for this series. He has to pull up his socks and take more responsibility in every format. I saw someone saying he can play the Ireland test but he hasn’t played a FC match since December 2022 for example. He has only played 30 FC games at 30. Jonathan Campbell has played 30 games too and he is 26. You can’t blame that on injuries or T20 gigs.

My main point is that he needs to rethink his career and actually ask himself what he wants to achieve. We kill Wesley here but he is 23 with 12 international half centuries. Burl is 30 with 8 international half centuries. Batting position doesn’t matter here because we collapse on a regular basis. He is barely bowling these days too. Campbell is an existential threat to him if he is not careful. Like Secret said, maybe he should move up the order. I actually think he could be a good opener in T20s
Ok Taps, but dont you think the same can be said about Marumani, Kaia, Shumba? They need to be dropped to pull up their socks, they need to think what they want to achieve in their career, etc.?

You might argue that Kaia and Shumba were dropped, but what have they done to earn a recall? In fact has Wes done enough to earn a recall?

Does anyone know the quick Zimbabwean nets bowler that the journalist mentioned? Time period 3:50 in the video.

One of Lanzoni’s protégés from the tape ball league, unearthed on the mean streets of Palermo. Cranks it up to 275kph all told.

I actually agree with Marumani. The problem they have with Marumani is the at 23, he absolutely dominates the domestic leagues all the time and we have a small player pool. It’s a tough one

I don’t think it’s a case of Burl not being good enough. If you look at Kaia he has been dropped for similar performances. It doesn’t mean he isn’t good enough. Burl has crossed 30 four times since the 2022 World Cup in T20s. 17 of those matches have been against associates or Ireland. Only 5 were against Sri Lanka and Bangladesh. His competitor Cambpell has done that 4 times in 3 months against the same type of opposition. It’s a bad look. It shows us exactly what we have been missing out on. It’s supposed to be a wake up call

What I’m hoping this does is ignite some fire in him. His performance yesterday suggests that. He also need to demand to bowl some times. It kind of decreases his importance if he isn’t bowling.

Also thinking out loud I think the irony in all this is that for Burl to probably play with Campbell, Marumani has to fire so that Madande is not an automatic pick

India announced team full of youngsters and the irony is zimbabwe still going to loss badly :geek:
Mate our bench strength is 'almost' as good as the main team, sure you would agree. Not much of a chance here for Zimbabwe, may be Zim's best chance is to prepare bowling friendly pitches and hope India slip up a game or two.
Even India's A team won't slip up in a single game (forget about two games). Bowlers pitch, batting pitch, fielders pitch, spectators pitch doesn't matter.
Ahem.. Ahem... That didn't age well Kriterion mate! 😂😂

And as I had said, a bowling wicket can really open things up.
