It amazes me that games between two nations like Zimbabwe and Ireland cost so much. The ground was hardly above club cricket level, as too the cricket at times. It doesn't need to cost that much.

A lot of the cost is surely “hidden”. It’s probably administrative stuff, perhaps beaurocratic fees, taxes apart from stuff like insurance, rent, and other charges.

Amazes me that with all the capitalists on this site there’s as much complaining about why things cost as much as they do. Like just be happy you can breathe free air lol.

Makes you wonder if we are going to host all those test matches that are scheduled. If they are fair people they would because India probably made them a few million dollars this month and they won’t pay a dime to go to England now

This is where someone needs to get to the bottom of all the ICC costs.
A 4 day FC game costs a small amount, say two grand, and a 5 day test costs at least 100 times that.
Surely Ireland would have recouped some of that thru television rights. There was no DRS, which is extortionate.

ESPN says it costs 60k and last year was used in 65 tests and 170 ODI's, that's $14.5 million.

Is that 60k a day? Maybe there's a discount for 5 days in a row.

ICC just had to tell them NO, unless of course they're getting a kick back. A big NO means they go from 14 bar to zero, unless they're prepared to be more reasonable. They're not using that technology anywhere else.
I'm sure the technologies are patented and there's probably patent pending on newer/different/better technologies. If there isn't there's a gap there for somebody.
I wonder how the ball tracking works in golf, can't that be used?
An HD slo-mo camera tells you most of what you need to know and that costs nothing to set up.

The other nonsense thing is 80 dollars a ball.
You can buy a cheap shit one for 5 dollars that breaks bats and has no movement or an 80 dollar one. That's a big range. Surely the Indians can make a better cheap ball?
Another ridiculous expense is a bat. 400 bucks for a plank that breaks for nothing. Someone needs to find a treatment for pine that gives it similar properties to willow and churn them out at 50 bucks a bat.
I still don't get why someone can't make a plastic bat that has identical properties to willow that people can use in the nets.

Remember we used to own our very own broadcasting truck, sold to Botswana for reasons unknown and where's the money?

Can't say I'm surprised by the loss. We have a habit of snatching defeat from victory.

We've got a lot we need to work on and in situations like this, we don't really know how to fix it. Our bowlers don't have too much up their sleeves to mix it up or make some fielding changes to affect a wicket.

We just run and bowl. The other thread spoke about the number of byes too, which is a massive issue, but we don't really fix it or work on it.

Sammons has some massive work to do and he can start by getting rid of some deadwood and actually bringing in some serious standards.

We are limited by our talent pool, as you are no doubt aware, but where you are right is that Sammons can implement standards and professionalism so players don’t coast and rest in their laurels doing just enough to be comfortable in the team.
You watch any NRL?
Exactly what Cameron Ciraldo has done with the bulldogs. The 12 month turnaround with a mediocre roster has been remarkable. Cleaned out players who are good but had attitude issues, no matter how much heat he got in the media, replaced with players who may not be as talented but give 100%
implemented the ‘team first, player second’ mantra, increased training requirements and the results are there to see. Coaching Masterclass.

Assuming Cricket Ireland forecast correct, a second Test might have increased the overall bill to 300K?, 350K?
Being the case it is even more sensible not to cross half of the world for a one Test only.

Next year there is a one Test against England. I hope they may take advantage of the long trip to add one or two Tests against Ireland.
It does is possible.
