I’m going to speculate that nothing will happen over Christmas.

Nothing to update. He is coming over to play for the Rocks but he has not made himself available for Zimbabwe.

May change in the future though.

Contracted until 2026 with Middlesex
I highly doubt anything will happen until then at best

He did have a very strong year with Middlesex in '24, and they have been unable to afford an overseas player. If his registration could be shifted from local to overseas (on the same contract), then he would be available immediately. Unlikely, granted. But more likely now, than previously.

Considering the apparent log-jam of batting sticks at Zimbabwe now, would it be as simple as him walking into the side now?

He might look at Nick Welch and think twice about throwing his lot in with the unpredictable ZC.

However, he is 29 now and seems unlikely to ever make the England team, doesn’t seem to be a ‘Baz-Ball’ type player.

The attraction to play the Eng v Zim Test would be appealing, but it’s only one game, although I reckon if he’s going to do it he’ll want to ensure he does it time for that game.

Anyways, just my random thoughts.

I don't think we have a log-jam. We have talent, but not many players are stepping up to cement a spot.

He'd be our best player by a country mile. If he committed to zimbabwe he wouldn't have to grind through our FC system either, he'd very much get the same red carpet treatment Jarvis and Taylor got in 2017.
His county stats speak for themselves and anybody thinking ANY of our batters outrank him are having a giggle. He'd fit perfectly into our side

There is a log jam, considering the guys who are sitting out atm. Think back the last 20 years there’s never been this type of depth.

The question is whether he’s that far above the rest he gets the red carpet treatment that BT & GB got which Sloan speaks of, I don’t know the answer to that but a first class average in the high 30s suggests he’s a walk up start to the test side.

His limited overs numbers are not as impressive which complicates things slightly as Zim mainly play ODI & t20 cricket.
