Shame on Zimbabwe cricket for losing to both Ireland and Afghanistan in test matches despite being a far more older member of the test club.
The amount of money Afghanistan and Ireland get is also less than what Zimbabwe get and same with international fixtures.
Zimbabwe pride themselves on playing logan cup and having a proper FC structure, very unlike Ireland and Afghanistan who do not boast of a strong FC structure.
Absolute shame. The players and board both should be ashamed of themselves.

Explain how a tax cut creates debt? Only spending creates debt.americanzimfan wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:30 pmNo, the main driver of the debt was tax cuts to the wealthy under both Bush II and Trump. Well the trillion dollar tax cut also should be great for inflation, eh?

Taxes or borrowing are your two sources of income. If you get less tax income, you are highly likely to have to borrow more to cover the shortfall.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:57 pmExplain how a tax cut creates debt? I don't understand how this economics debate fits into a Test Cricket forum.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:57 pmExplain how a tax cut creates debt? However, being qualified to answer and hoping not to have furtherly this forum shifted to economics, I answer in simple terms for non-economists.
BOTH tax cut and governement spending are, although "ideologically" alternative, instruments to boost economy.
Tax cut is supply side economics: VAT reduction makes products cheaper to buy. If combined with lower income taxes, it makes more money to be used to buy products which means increse in production, thus increase in GDP.
Unfortunately it's not always so smooth: if, for several reasons, families allocate a small portion to purchasing and prefer to retain money to savings then economics is not boosted enough and, together with reduced revenues from taxes, government is then forced to increase debt.
Government spending definetely generates debt in the short term. This policy is to be applied when private sector is not financially sound enough to have resources to boost economy. If virtuously managed government spending is best solution in medium-long term because it is fully aimed to boost economy and is mainly targeted to investments. This means that with this policy you also have a more sustainable growth and lower inflation.
Unfortunately government spending is often affected by inefficiency, poor planning and, above all, corruption which undermine the likely positive effects and the debt is then higher than before.

I agree.mnelson68 wrote: ↑Sun Jan 05, 2025 6:49 pmWhen Zim cricket decide to get real and pick players on ability and not colour then results will be very different. I'm sorry but Gumbie 52 runs , Kaitano 72 runs and Myers 42 runs is a perfect example of this. N. Welch , M.Welch and J.Campbell deserve the same opportunities but won't get them until the old brigade retires which is disgraceful. I like Myers as a player but why did he get fast tracked into all 3 formats in front of the other guys ? The corruption needs to stop , why would Higgins want to play for his home country when there is only 4 or 5 spots up for grabs.
These racial quotas undermine the performance of the national squad and cheat fans: not being in Zimbabwe I just watch matches on TV. 99.99% of fans are black. Maybe not proficient cricket spectators, they however cheerfully support the national squad.
I hardly believe they support only the black majority of players: cheers are high whenever a white player hits a boundary.
They just want to see the national team not to lose always because instead of merit they have quota based selections.
Give local black fans the best team possible and ditch quotas! Quota system is the true racism.

I think Afghanistan get the same money as us? I stand to be corrected though. I wonder if the Taliban distribute it more equitably than ZC?sam_ahm wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 1:35 pmShame on Zimbabwe cricket for losing to both Ireland and Afghanistan in test matches despite being a far more older member of the test club.

Afghanistan also have a solid, consistent FC setup as well. Lots of this touring side were selected directly because of their FC performances.Googly wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 3:15 pmI think Afghanistan get the same money as us? I stand to be corrected though. The problem with constantly saying the Welch brothers and Campbell must be included is that the day they are selected, they are going to be under immense pressure. None of them will be a game changer immediately. It's pretty clear now only someone on the levels of Ballance can come in and massively improve this team. It's a work in progress and everybody will get their chances.
Don't automatically assume they will take them. In fact we have seen Nick Welch and Campbell play before and it wasn't the greatest run of games. It's a tricky game. Bennett for example has 1 century and 4 failures in his test career. Nothing in between. A lot of people thought he shouldn't have played in the first test. He probably isn't ready just like Dion but he took his chances in the first game. Campbell was dropped early on in his first international game and smoked a few sixes after that which bought him a series against India. It's a brutal game.
What I am hoping for is to see improvement against Ireland in a few months. If you struggle to play the Irish bowlers after facing 2 months of relentless quality bowling then I will have to question your potential.
What I do think they should do is have Nick in the squad at the very minimum like they did with Campbell. Naqvi too as soon as he is eligible. At least we know when they will have 2 to 3 weeks of quality training. Higgins would also be a good addition to the overall squad. We should be aiming to have no passengers in the squads we select.
I'm also for bringing BT back. Sounds insane to some but if you look at a lot of our games you almost get the sense that if we had one extra reliable batsman we would have crossed the line. He is 2 months older than Raza, 6 months older than Williams. Younger than Ervine. All I want is to win at this point. I don't care how we do it but we need to win games. Let's have 16 or 17 guys who are up for the fight.

I definitely agree that serious efforts should be made to get BT back in all formats. If he's drug tested and clean, and has his life together, whats the harm? That said, there are serious questions that need to be asked, but should wait till after the Ireland series.

Spoken like a communist. Stop funding wars around the world, put Musk in charge of slashing the budget by 50% and less tax = more disposable income, more businesses opened and everybody is happy. Watch and learn how capitalism really works.aydee wrote: ↑Mon Jan 06, 2025 2:30 pmTaxes or borrowing are your two sources of income.
