Must have N.Welch in , Gumbie out and J.Campbell in for Mavuta who isn't any better than the part timers so better batting depth.
You bring up a point I'm always mentioning that seems to get overlooked.
There is no point picking a 'specialist' spinner as they are either no better, or are so marginally better that it is irrelevant, than our all rounders.

Raza is the best spin bowler in the country.
Burls leg spin is -/- with Mavutas. However Burl can bat a little bit better. I emphasise little, as he is nearly ten years without a significant red ball innings.

We are always best to just bat balls deep and let Willo and Raza lead the spin charge with some backup by Burl, Bennett, etc.

EDIT: Whatever happened to that leggie we had in the 19's around 4 years back? The one that took a few wickets.

Dion needs to to play some domestic cricket and get his form back. Welch is the obvious straight swap for him. If they play Mayavo then Gumbie misses out. Unless they pick him as a pure batsman over Kaitano. Kaitano might just sneak in because he bats with Ben domestically. Campbell's fate depends on Raza for me. We also have to hope Williams is fit

For the bowlers I think they are going to double down and select Newman again. Especially after that audio. Blessing isn't around but he should be called back. We need him. We can't afford to lose this test. If Raza doesn't play then instead of Campbell they could pick Mavuta again. He has better chances of success against Ireland compared to Afghanistan where he probably wouldn't get into a domestic side there as a leggie.

Williams and Bennett will take as many wickets with the ball as any of our specialist spinners. Picking Mavuta or Masakadza is a wasted spot.

Williams and Raza are as good as any specialist spinner.

Will Williams be fit though? Bennett is ok, but there are better slow bowlers than him about.

Sorry but I just had to ask, is the word “negro” here acceptable on this forum? This day and age?

Quick look on the play cricket app says his playing in the Bairnsdale cricket league.

Averaging 36 with the bat and 13 with the ball.

i am unsure of the standard of cricket that way but by looks like his done well in the rep games.
