Yes having 4 old players is risky but at the same time BT is the best batsman out of the 4. That can't be ignored. We can have four 38 year olds in a squad then figure it out from there. They don't always have to play at the same time.

I think we sometimes make the mistake of concentrating on the playing 11. Mainly because of the selection issues I guess. The modern international side needs at least 16 or 17 guys ready to go at any time without the quality of the playing 11 significantly dropping. That's how you build a winning team.

They are doing that with the fast bowlers as they clearly identified that we are 2 injuries away from a national disaster in that department. The same should be considered with the batsman. For example if Williams can't play in 2 weeks we are already in deep trouble in that test. Let BT, Naqvi, Welch and even Higgins come in. Let's build a strong squad not just a team.

Taps you're in danger of becoming an elder statesman, just spouting facts.

They could suddenly decide NPL stats are worth looking at
Assuming he made runs of course. Cricket is a strange old game.

I heard he's had his ban lifted as of now? He could catch the back end of this domestic season, especially our 4 day T20 season.

We'd have the oldest team in history, 4x40 year olds. A combined age of an elderly Galapogos tortoise.

Assume they make a deal with Higgins. They'd have Ervine, Williams, Higgins, BT, Bennett and Raza. That's an unacceptable look. Pre 2001.
Never mind Naqvi and then a black guy with a white name (Dion), we're regressing to 1983. BT could get Jarvis and Ballance out of retirement. Get Ballance onto the 12 step program and introduce him to Jesus,
Goodwin would come back for a last hurrah, Marillier still probably better than Welly, we're back to 1967. We could call it the Pink Rhodesian Cabal XI.
Zolsky as Team Manager.

I don't think BT would be better than Williams.

In what strange world do we live in where they gun BT on social media for years and then they're all breaking bread and sipping Green Label and jointly planning his comeback?

Some things just can't be explained

Last thing Zimbabwe need is for a 38 yr old with no competitive cricket for last 4-5 years to make a comeback into the side. 🤦‍♂️

I'm all for it, so long as he has to prove where his skills are at in domestic cricket first.

NPL doesn't count so unless he plays now he's going to have to wait 6 months, he'll be 50 by then

I agree 100%.

A national squad has to rely to at least 17-18 players. Being the case he may still be a valuable asset.

In present times an athlete can stil be competitive in his early fortys (Andreson, Dhoni to name a few).

I hope B. Taylor may still have four to five years ahead as a main contributor to Zimbabwe national squad.
