Zimdoggy, I think your idea of the Smith-Mugabe Cup would be popular at newzimbabwe forums.

That will enrage them.

See what I did there? I find that kind of thing funny. Others won't. Probably with good reason but if ur watching and know I'm saying it to stir the pot the reactions become hilarious.
Haha! I did laugh out loud at that one-liner
As you say, with context that is hilarious. If you do post it there you'll have to share the link, I can't even begin to imagine how many different ways you'll be torn to shreds

:) I spent years on that forum- not the sports one but the general one - man it was hard work!! eventually it does get just too tiring though... when/if i pop back now even the colours that appear as it's laoding depress me!!

btw, this is an interesting thread too - as well as, maybe especially, the link to flashG - no lie works as well as one with truth in it.

it's f****d up that people don't get paid but that aside, remember the Tsotsobe affair when he twittered how much he disliking his stay in England - the locals were as vitriolic as anything i've seen on this sites.

I think a problem with Zimbabwe at the moment is that we want to see results but we don't want to work for them .a sponsor can come on board and buy even the smallest ex japan cars for our players .it makes a difference and it will be something that younger people can look forward to . Zimbabweans love success but don't want to work for it .
I will use Kirsty Coventry as an example , i think her parents are the ones that had been footing the bill for her to travel to swimming meets when she was younger , all the time she had in training it was most probably parents . There was no noise in swimming development , but the moment she struck Gold everyone wanted to be associated with her , even RG was all over her .
So if we want success we have to invest in it ...........

Kwekwe can be dull without a car ...

I'm glad i wasn't here in 2008 - K Dabangwa performed admirably in a tough time. And when i read hhm's review of his perrformances vs Lambs it does bring back the feelings of sympathy i used to feel for the Dabengwa's of the Zim system

not a particularly unusual model for an economy the size of Zim's ... a balance may be preferable ie when they've proved themselves to a certain standard they get a grant

... i would like a clear picture on what exactly is the structure of investment in cricketers - there seems to be some amount of investment going on but it's not clear to me how much and to who!

I would also like to know exactly what they mean by Investment in the players, Someone quantify this. Becasue we might confuse perks as an investment when it is just what is due to a play.
