That's a good point wrt Afghanistan having ODI status.

Also... How these games aren't list A, but a Rhinos vs Rocks game with all national players unavailable is... Odd.

It may be ground has not been inspected and evaluated yet. Greater Noida seems like the cricketing backwaters. Also the classification system may have been up to the two boards involved to decide if it was list A. Maybe they didn't bother to fax the paperwork to the ICC office?

Nah, the ground requirements for FC/List A cricket are virtually non-existant. Anyway, that ground has hosted Ranji Trophy games this year.

The Afghans have invested in making this A series a day-night affair. Where have we seen so much of investment on a bilateral A series before? Afghans are dead serious about their cricket and looks like they are putting their money in the right places too. Best wishes to them. As for the ground, yes it has hosted Ranji matches already so accreditation should not be an issue.

That is the most likely explanation. May be such a classification can happen even after the series is through.

I think so. Test status was given retroactively to the first n number of Tests, so why not?

Still wondering why this is not List A?
Wellington was included in the ODI squad but he had some visa issues. There was a request for LA spinner too but turned down.

Greater Noida Cricket Stadium is actually Shahid Vijay Singh Pathik Sports Complex. The Aghan PM expressed his desire to Indian PM to shift the cricketing base to India. BCCI signed a MoU with Afg & the ICC recently cleared the facility for hosting ODI and T20 matches between Associate teams as well as matches between Associates and Full Member A teams. Yes, Ranji matches has been played here and the efforts are on to increase the seating capacity. I am not sure if Afg invested in the floodlights. The Afghans speak Hindi, has students studying in nearby colleges so has a good support here. However, they were more than surprised to see an Indian with Zimbabwean flag in couple of matches.

Also... How these games aren't list A, but a Rhinos vs Rocks game with all national players unavailable is... Odd.
An oversight from the hosts, did not get ICC approval in time.
I've been impressed with the Afghans attitude to cricket. They have beaten us on the field and also have a bigger technical team, even sporting a masseuse(IPL masseuse).
Just moved to Delhi where Afghan National team have flown in to start preparing for WC by playing games around India..... Their preparation is so much more professional and specific.

Its cuz they are Asian and cricket is all we have. It still amazes me that Bangladesh can host world cups and form a competitive cricket team yet we can even build a bridge in our country without fucking it up and/or skimming money from it. Asians treat cricket differently than anyone else. Watch Nepal...in 10 years they will be up there with Ireland and Afghanistan.
