Re: Zimbabwe Pacers Thread
The player you are probably talking about is young Blessing Muzarabani who easily is quicker than Chatara. What the lad needs is time in ZimA academy where he is fed and bulks up . Ill take a pic with him next week and send. I think Callum Price is another just horribly unfit but bowls from a short run up it makes me wonder if he had a good incentive to play what pace he can generate.

Re: Zimbabwe Pacers Thread
yes Elton lost pace when got a stress facture - back. Then he bowled around the 140 topping at 144km/h is the fastest I saw him bowl.ZIMDOGGY wrote:what happened to Eltons bowling? Used to be one of our best!
panyangara was going to be the new Heath Streak and I am sure he was going to be better, he was quick, he swung it and had a good cricketing brain, but he alsoi got a stress facture, had beef with ZC went to England and came back twice his size no pace. Sad

Yes Matigumu! Thats the one.TapsC wrote:Matigimu is the kid who hit 139kph. he only just turned 18 so I'm thinking he is still terrorizing kids in school boy cricket. what I want to know is whether there is a way to make guys faster and what age do fast bowlers peak? for example will madziva and jong we ever get to the 140 mark or is it too late for them. Is it a technique thing or is it a fitness thing? Matigimu had a short run up..I'm sure if he goes to a high performance center he can get to 145kph. how that west Indian kid was so quick already I don't know.
also who are the quickest guys in the current setup. I would say chatara then vitori but after that I dont know how quick the likes of tiripano nyauchi mumba etc are. madziva was bowling around 135. Solomon mire around 137
As far as developing pace, I'm not sure what it depends on. Its not about big bulky muscles. Fitness I am sure is a factor, but I thinks really about rhythm. Of course every person has their individual peak pace limit based probably on how many fast twitch fibers they have. Some might hit their peak earlier than others. For example 2 bowlers both 16 years old, one bowls 120 kph the other 135. Most would say the second will be genuinley quick, but maybe at age 25, he is still bowling 135 and the first guy developed more pace as is clocking 145.

Ah yes, this is more like it.
Jarvis bowler a seriously fiery spell against Kallis in 2009 at the Bull ring. I nearly spat my cornflakes out when I saw the speed gun had breached 147Kph..
Chatara won't be the same. I've fractured my medial, lateral and anteria ligaments in my knee which required surgery as well as a damaged cartridge. I struggle to run the way I did let alone bowl.
I think this young kid Matigmu should certainly be worked with but, alas, this is Zimbabwe, and be will no doubt fall through those familiar cracks.
The sad thing is, about half a decade ago we seemed to hav a strong pool of pace bowlers who were genuinely either quick or were taking wickets regularly.
Panyangara, Chatara, Meth, Jarvis, Ncube, Nicholson, Rainsford, Mpofu was peaking at this point and was bowling with some gas once Streak got a hold of him. Then there was the case of Aleseni and Manatsa, Callum Price was breaking through, as was richard mushange (spelling?).
Now the cupboard is bare, either due to the player drain or due to a lack of form, interest or a lack of top quality coaching.
Mupariwa is never going to tear attacks apart, nor will guys like Muzarabani.
By the way, Panyangara was never quick. He was a 82/3 Mph bowler at best but he naturally swung the ball, not to mention the fact he was fitter and younger back then.
Invest in someone like Diplock or Matigmu,

Re: Zimbabwe Pacers Thread
I think there maybe some confusion on the Tall Under 19 quick its not Matigimu as has been mentioned in this thread. The boy in question is young Blessing Muzarbani who is definatly just over 2 meters and is bowling above 145.Matigimu is not even close to this lad in terms of pace and bounce. As for genuine future quicks in Zimbabwe these are the players who will need guidance to get them bowling 140 +
1. Tawanda Bidi - Got the pace just needs control and
2.Blessing Muzarabani- Got the pace just needs to be handled
3. Tatenda Chikuni - Was rumored to be the quickest in the country 4 years back stress fractures stunted his development
4.Tatenda Mupunga - Needs to bulk up and change franchises
5. Gerald Aliseni -Needs to lose more weight

Muzarabani was not the kid in Bangladesh bowling at 139. Name doesn't look familiar. If what you say is true, the there are at ,east 6 guys adding the recent U19 lad, whoever he is.gargamel wrote:I think there maybe some confusion on the Tall Under 19 quick its not Matigimu as has been mentioned in this thread.
