No they didn't, neither the ZC Chairman nor the Sports Minister of Zimbabwe thinks that Zim can't beat Afghans and both of them didn't want to loose against the Associates, and all those previous consequences happened due to loss against Afghanistan.eugene wrote:Not sure there are many consequences. It is very much difficult to understand Tavengwa Mukuhlani, ZC Chairman. Regarding the matter of sacking Whatmore, first he said, it was done due to loss against Afghans, later he claimed Whatmore was an expensive coach and it was tough for ZC to afford him.

Consequences will be huge in short term and long term. If Zim cant even give Afghanistan a fight it will be difficult for them to convince good teams to come and visit Zimbabwe. Moreover , it seems now this Zim team stands no chance to qualify for the 2019 world cup. Zimbabwe will be at par with Kenya and Namibia very soon. In next five years we all can very well see Zimbabwe playing in WCL divisions of ICC. Zimbabwe has survived even despite poor performances so far because BCCI supported them every year with a tour and kept their kitchens running. But sooner or later , they will also ditch them.

The present comfortable situation for Zimbabwe is not new
In 2014, Four Match odi sereis, Zimbabwe were leading 2-0, Afghanistan came back strongly leveling the series 2-2
In 2015, Five Match odi series, both Zimbabwe & Afghans were 2-2, till Afghans pulled off final odi, clinching the series 3-2
In 2016, Five Match odi series in UAE , Afghans were leading 2-0, Zimbabwe leveled the series 2-2, but it was again Afghans who won the final battle and won the series 3-2
Still Consequences happened from all such situations
In 2017, Again Same Situation 2-2.
