I still think it has something to do with holding a Zimbabwean passport as has been seen with the Olonga & Durham cases.

It is possible to a Zim passport as well as one from another country this is how Curran, Sean Ervine and Ireland were initially able to play county cricket - they each held Irish passports.

Nothing is certain in Zimbabwean politics but dual citizenship should be on the way in the near future - you don't lose a third of your population and reintegrate them successfully otherwise. Now, in Zimbabwean sports I suspect Cara Black, Nick Price, Benjani etc travel with Zimbabwean passports without problems (Kirsty Coventry has the ultimate solution: a diplomatic passport - she's our only Olympic golden girl after all). In cricket I think these guys can have kolpak contracts and keep their Zimbabwean passports. For those with foreign passports, it seems ZC must have additional requirements above ICC and if naturalisation isn't an option then that might complicate things. However I believe a lot of people hold dual citizenship unofficially but I can't see how one can get away with it while playing for a high profile national team. Compton and Raza must be fairly certain of selection for them to start the process in the first place. So do we need them? I'd say yes. We need a solid Test squad and those two should be in it.
